Why "The Scene" sucks so bad...

Seriously why so much hate? Why even care? These hipster, poseur, pretender non bike builders you guys are so upset about are just around for the 'scene' they won't be for long. The next trend they feel attracted to will be right around the corner and they will be off to bother that core group. In the bicycle racing community we hate on the rich Doctor/Lawyer/Dentist who rolls up on a 15k bike but can't keep up on the smallest uphill. What is missed by a lot guys is that it's these Freds (our derogatory term for them) are ones funding a majority of R&D into all the cool bits we put on our race bikes and thanks to them the used market is full of this stuff for penny's on the dollar. The point is that without the card swipers brad has so much disdain for there wouldn't be thriving DCC or Rock City.
I'm not going to rehash the whole builder v buyer thing but honestly the majority of the bikes here are built by guys who don't have machine shops in their garages. I know I did most of the wrenching on my bike and I designed the look. Sure I bought some of the parts, I'm not fabricating a headlight bucket or clipon's and neither are 99.9% of the bike owners on this board. Honestly what percentage of guys you run into are guys who just bought their bikes and know zero about them? More importantly how many fall into that category and are unwilling to learn about them? I'm willing to bet that it's a small subset of a small motorcycle niche that has gained popularity over the last 4-5 years.
