Willow...An Evolution

Re: Willow...An evolution..

Top notch all across the board my man. This is going to be one of "those" bikes that dudes are talking about for years.

Re: Willow...An evolution..

Wowza! Lookin good bro. Where ya finding the black epoxy? All i can find is white

Re: Willow...An evolution..

home depot and menards both carry it... also walmart... ace has a knock off that is not to shabby but i would not use it on wheels it does not take well to the flex and chips real bad

Re: Willow...An evolution..

This bike reminds me of a chopper version of the Rudge that showed up in the bikeexif calender - I think its the under mount tank tahts doing it for me. Nice work.

Re: Willow...An evolution..

Thanks fellas. Really appreciate it.

Travis: haha I'm feeling like garage time come doesn't come near often enough. Burning candle at both ends for sure.

my94f2: Joe is right. all those places should carry the black, Bisque, silver, and white. If you've never used it make sure to follow the write ups on dtt. I've done a couple, and I know Joe has and probably a couple other people as well. The stuff is extremely picky to get right.

Slice: I love that bike. Someone sent me a link to that bike after I added the backbone to this bike. That thing is sweet for sure.

Again everyone: Thank you so much for all the encouraging words. To be honest I'm pretty wore out and your words are keeping me going! Thank you!

Not much to report but I feel I gotta give ya something.
Sprayed the new screen with Antique brass and changed out the screens on the points cover. Way more vintage looking. The motor is just about ready for a fresh coat of paint:

JB welded the new screen in the bake hub. Even though there is a bunch of dust on the surface i wont wipe it for a week or two so as not scratch the surface:

I sprayed the front wheel but got ahead of myself and sprayed a little heavy. I ended up with a couple runs and a little wrinkle here and there. I can't decide to strip and redo or wait a couple weeks and sand those places out and touch them up

Re: Willow...An evolution..

Thanks Justin. Hey why do I always do my updates on the bottom of a page and you have the first post on the next page haha.

CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!

huge day for me today. My velocity stacks arrived today from Canuck Plumber. I'm blown away. From what I understand Dime City Cycles will soon be offering his copper stacks for sale. Congratulations brother I really hope that works out for you. These things are absolutely gorgeous!!!! I was going to save these for the finished reveal but he did such a kick ass job I have to share them. I'm super stoked! Brother Canuck I can't thank you enough this things are sick! I think they are going to tie in nice with the brass and copper I have planned for the tank.

I also got the spine welded shut. Welded a bolt then cut the threads off.

The tank plug got its first gel coat. Once its sanded down to about 600 grit we'll wax her up and start making the mold. That process shold take place next week so by mid week I hope to have a tank!
Gel coat drying(sorry for the small photo but Doug took this with his cell phone and I'm not sure how to resize it):

Last but not least Do the Ton's best kept secret showed up today to rebuild my forks. Doug, AKA Beatnic lives in Pittsburgh and runs a suspension shop. Can't have anyone better work on your forks. If you ever have a question Doug can answer it or better yet he can fix it
Doug doing what he does best while his better half Alex looks on:

I'm super stoked about getting some help. Seriously if you have suspension questions Beatnic is you man.

Sad to watch them depart. The sky was dumping buckets but Doug and Alex are hardcore. Not gonna stop them when they have a buddy needing help.
Doug and Alex I can't thank you enough!

Re: Willow...An evolution..Christmas on page 34!!!!

Troy, those stacks look like copper jet engines! Good job Canuck.

Doug is the man with that stuff. He smoothed out some tubes for me and filled a couple pits too. Top notch character.

Its funny you mention jet engines. Last time I spoke with him he was talking about maybe trying to add some kind of turbine fins on the inside that would resemble a jet engine.

Yeah I have no idea how many DTT forks hes worked on but I know there are a lot. This is the second time he has tore into these. What a stand up guy!!!!
