Wiring the absolute bare minimum

I want to test run the cb350 I have been working on. I was just looking to eliminate everything except what will make the bike run, anyone have a diagram for this or simple instructions?

Search.
You need compression, spark, and fuel to run.

Maybe you should get a manual and read the wire diagram....
Or just fine out what makes the bike run...

I always kick myself for asking as everyone justs wants and answer.....but why are you looking to hack into a bike? If whole blindly taking things off without an understanding as to how they work will not make life easier. If you are just running an engine on a stand or something then you should know what the engine needs to run if you are that far into a pile of stuff...

Thanks for the sarcastic remarks. I know what makes an engine run, I just want to see a diagram of the being that I am not really good with wiring. I also don't have patience for soapbox jerks who think they can are high and mighty. The reasons for forums like this is to invite those to learn more and do more, not to belittle someone to make yourself feel better while you search the net for your next little man antidote.

My request is simple, if you cant give me an answer without being a jerk, save your fingers the effort and energy for the next visit to your foot fetish site.

You just need to hook the battery power up to the ignition (not the key switch). Power to the coils.......

That's it.

It would literally have taken you thirty seconds to find that diagram had you looked for it at all. Good luck!

Yup. Positive terminal from the battery to the coils (black/white wire) and then negative terminal of the battery to the frame. Should last you about an hour or so until the battery is dead.

And when the battery dies?

Maybe a better question to ask is, what do you want to remove? The bare minimum to run is:
coils
condensers
points
Alternator
rectifier
regulator
battery
a switch to cut off power

The only extras on a CB350 are the lights, starter and starter solenoid, horn and the few switches and buttons to operate those things.

The easiest way to get a bike running for people who don't understand wiring or diagrams is to not fuck with it. The rest of us lose patience with people who post saying "I removed all the wires and not my bike doesn't work. Help!" without looking at the resources available.

The OP said he wanted to test run his bike. By that I assume he wants to fire up the engine to make sure it is working. I did the same thing when I was rebuilding my bike after I wrecked. I didn't want to do all the work only to find out it didn't run any more.

I hooked up the power to the coils and ran it for a few minutes to make sure it was still fine.

Doesn't get any more bare-bones than this...

Includes the charging system so your bike won't die while you're riding it. Skipped fuses (so harness will catch fire if you short out) and the ignition switch has been replaced with the kill switch. Also swapped over to a Kohler R/R ($25 part) to replace the individual regulator and rectifiers. This simplifies the wiring even further and is actually a bit of an upgrade when compared to the stock system.

I was actually trying to be helpful.
I literally cannot count the number of times the diagram suffly posted has been posted on this site. I also probably can't count the number of times this EXACT same topic has been posted, literally the same exact topic.

You're right on the purpose of the forum, but that doesn't mean we are your own private little google team. Like rich said, under 30 seconds of searching would have found you the answer.

Yeah there is a difference between a forum to ask intelligent questions and get help and wanting a forum to hold your hands.

Either 30 seconds of searching would have brought you to what you seemed to have wanted.....and I posted.....so maybe I'm not that big a dick....

Or the time you spent on the web could have been spent in the shop figuring it out for yourself.
Love when the response is "I know the answer but I still want you to tell me.."

Internet is no a place to turn to at every chance, nothing gets done here.
Get in the shop with a manual.

Also like it was brought up you didn't give enough info to really have anyone be of any help.
You got some bashing, snd the picture that some how will solve all you problems....
I call this a victory all around.

Sonreir thanks for the diagram this was helpful.

I did search for this but I was unable to find exactly what I needed, that is why I asked. I am trying to understand how to read these diagrams accurately and I thought I would start with one that I would quickly understand.

I am just curious, could you send the link for the exact same diagram...... an older post may have more info than this one.

Thanks
