Rich Ard,

Maybe you need to get with Ichiban. He seems to be able to get his Bad Ass Cafe Racer done a lot quicker. He seems to have a lot more interesting ideas than you to....

Seems like the way to go to get your own Bad Ass Cafe Racer... 8) 8)

but I don't have a bad ass comic strip.......

Thanks to bradj and AllBalls racing (part no. 22-1012), a 2000 Ninja 500 fork bolts up. Measurements still look good.

Wholy rake batman!

you do realize this thing is sitting crooked with no wheels on it right? the rake is fine when the bike is sitting flat im sure. looks good rich, about time that front end came off.

Yup. I was just bugging. Actually he Probly lost some rake with the swap due to the fork offset differences. Looking at my tr1 and those forks there appears to be a notable difference.

I will lose a bit of rake and trail both - but will still be in reasonable territory.

With less offset you gain trail but hopefully you won't be back where you started

The triple on the ex500 is 13mm longer from fork tube to neck, but the wheel is in line with the fork rather than forward of it, so it actually comes out almost even

:-[ I honestly never meant anything by that, just saying you're making nice progress. I always think of it as a milestone when the build becomes a roller again.

Not sure how that's true. I think you are thinking of chopper/cruiser builds vs general vintage to modern sport fork swaps. On a modern sport swap trail will decrease with fork offset shrinking because both trips are the same offset. What you are thinking is the trail can increase even if the offset decreases if one trip offsets more than the other ala chopper style.

Tire height and fork length both before an after play a role in the trail changing as well. It's not so cut and dry.

No offense taken, dawg. I meant that it isn't the first time the thing's been apart!

Can't get a good angle to shoot from - but it is coming together really well, I think.

Forgot I need to shorten the kickstand a bit!

In this case, PJ is correct (and I'd wager he was reasonably sure he would be ;) )
