XV920 "Short Bus"

And here I thought you two were friends. Friends don't let friends have basket case XS650's.

Unless it's immaculate original there is no other way worth buying an XS650 as your going to remove a lot of stuff and probably 'get inside' the engine ;D

Re: XV920 "Short Bus"

PJ: once I started really tallying up costs it became clear that I was getting into the sort of money that I can only justify on something that I would keep forever. So I'll keep watching for an airhead and if a running XS or SOHC4 falls into my lap I'll cut the ass end off of it.

I've only ever counted up what I was spending one time. Was rebuilding a 1970 VW Beetle. Stopped counting when I got to $12,000
If I was selling bikes I would have to keep records of costs, probably still loose a bunch so it's just as well I keep them ;D

I'm not even going to go into what my Roadrunner is costing me... :-X Let's just say the CB was meant to give me a feeling of affordable relief and accomplishment.

My 76 Firebird will probably never be finished if I can't find a job :(
The $1200.00 I've spent on engine parts so far is nothing (it's not the pontiac stuff being expensive, you just need 8 of everything 8) )
I still need pistons, rings, all the bearings and a cam., manifolds and exhaust system, clutch, etc ::) (although I could leave it as an automatic, trans is working fine ;D )
After all that is done I can start on the bodywork

Re: XV920 "Short Bus"

Want an XS650? I know a guy who's got one cheap

In retrospect, putting all of this stuff in a milk crate, uncovered, in a garage full of spiders where I have been cutting wood and metal, was not my best plan...Feeling good about having this thing finished and on the road in the spring.

HA!

More progress tonight - my exhaust hanger is made, need to get the 3 1/2" band clamps in to test final fitment before I paint it - those should be here Saturday. And one of two engine covers is on, but I need my wiring toolbox to clean up the pickup coils' wiring - and that's at the shop.

Little bit closer every day. If all goes according to plan, I'll light up the engine this weekend.

You can't be in it for that much? You were playing it pretty cheap IIRC.

Plus a half built bike isn't worth much compared to a finished bike.
