Yet another cb175(no name yet)

Been Around the Block
So i've been lurking the boards for awhile and posted here and there sporadically. I've done a couple other bikes but they were a couple years ago and were not what you'd call cafe style. And it was before this site whole heartedly supported bobbers and such. Anyways here is the next on my list. It's a '73 cb175. I've got a few pictures of what it looked like when i brought it home.
After alot of consideration i decided to add CL style high pipes

and make an attempt at a seat.

I made rearsets on my own, i work for a sign shop and we have access to CNC router tables and such, so
i made levers out of 1/4 aluminum and pressed in bearings and used bronze washers to make everything smooth.
Shift and brake linkages also done.

I then found a steal on a cd175 toaster tank. So here is how it sits today.

I also wanted some advice as to what to do with the gap now that sits between the seat and the new tank? I'm not really botehred by it
but i wanted to see what your opinions are.

Thanks and sorry for the long winded post, just wanted to get here and get it all out.

Great score on the tank!! Love these little bikes.

There's originally a rubber strap to hold the tank down right there (in case you didn't know) - so what about adding the rubber and maybe some seat fabric to help it "blend"?

I forgot to add. I'm thinking of running a rubber bushing undeneath that tab(current strap is shot). I wanted to know what you guys think about painting the seat or covering in vinyl. The tank was just painted before i received it, i'm leaning toward just upholstering the whole seat in black.

I'm on my phone so I don't want to give any opinions on paint / upholstery, but I will def check this thread again in the am

how about making a tank protector to fill that gap make it the same as whatever seat cover you use and it will all blend into one.very nice bike by the way.

Looks good, love the tank. Is it as clean as it looks? You keeping the OG heat shield? Is it super sexy chrome? If you have no use for it get at me!

OK well it's been a while. I'll try to get everything up to date. First i finally tore it all down and painted the frame.
I also stumbled upon a great idea for my battery cage.

If anyone is interested in these i still have one spare set. I can make more if needed. It fits a batteries plus 4 amp hour AGM battery.
New Avon's, turn signals, Roc City headlight bucket and clipons, entirely new controls, Redwing Assault R8 shocks, and a few other bits.
I have a lot more to update but can't remember.

One last teaser. This is how she sits now.

OK its really been a long time. I pretty much finished her up. This is just after the first shakedown.....still a few things to work out but the snow is flyin.

Great looking bike! Love the tank.

I absolutely love that tank. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing more pictures.

Did you ever find a way to hide the gap between your tank and the seat? If not, I might look into a rubber strap like one of the other posters suggested.
