You Traded WHAT?

I hear Sportsters make a better adventure bike than a DR anyway.

Levi has an ulterior motive here folks. Year before last my CL378 was still in pieces so I rode DGR with his DR650. He's absolutely insisting that my CL has to be done for the 2020 DGR and now he's absolutely guaranteed it by replacing the DR with a Harley! (He knows me well!)

Wait... What?!

Interesting get Levi. You did factor in replacing your entire wardrobe with HD branded stuff, right? :p
In less than a year that I've moved from a (packed) 1 car attached garage into a 2.5 car detached, my new shop is already full lol something's gotta give. This one will likely sell this spring. In this part of Ohio, a sportster will sell before a dual sport, so no wardrobe change needed lol

To make a long story longer, I traded my trusty old dr650 for a 94 sportster. Back in February.

I then traded the sportster, a Buell blast, and an xs650 chopper frame that I found at the barber swap meet.....

for this 97 heritage softail classic. It's been sitting since 2013, so it needs flushed, a carb clean and a few other things, but it's well farkled and in very nice shape. Less than 14k on the clock to boot!

Shout out to my little trailer for being there every step of the way lol this thing really taxed it though. Those Harley's are HEAVY

(Cue the music). “Well, we’re movin on up, to the East Side...”

Nice swapping, buddy.

It's not the most farkled softtail I've seen, but damn close. Nice trade! If you want to get rid of it, I have a half can of stale Diet Coke and a pocket knife with two broken blades to offer.

I would be interested, but I'm more in the market for a broken playstation and a hatchet without the handle ;)

Wow, I wish I had known... I’ve got the broken PlayStation AND the hatchet w/o handle... but I want an XLCR instead of a Softail. Darn, so close!

Much lighter on the trade deal this weekend, but I traded a 2002 XR200r for a 1992 DR350s:

All the plastics are with the DR, but it’s not in pristine condition by any stretch

Levi, PM me a shipping addy and I'll gift you a pair of proper safety chain hooks. It would suck if you lost a perfectly good bike and trailer because it got loose on ya. It would really suck if it ended up in oncoming traffic too.

Traded a locked up Honda 350 twin engine for a CB500/4 engine today. I didn't need the 350 and the other guy did. I also don't need the 500 engine but if someone close to Georgia has a CB500/550 frame I would be interested. Don't need a title just good numbers and a bill of sale. No pictures as all of us have seen engines!

I have a CB550 roller in Augusta that I need an engine for, so if you decide to go the other direction and dump it, let me know. I have a barn full of bikes if you want some trade fodder.

Kind of a bitter sweet trade, but my trusty old 1998 XR400 (along with a little bit of cash) got traded away for a 1977 Jeep CJ5 with a 258 I6 and a 4 speed. It needs a little bit of tinkering here and there, but its a running and driving machine.

I ended up going down pretty hard on the xr a bit less than a year ago, leaving me with an arm that can sense the weather and little bits of shale still randomly popping out of my arm. That, along with my son being 5 1/2 years old, my lady friends son being 2 1/2, I really wanted something that we could all go have fun on when its nice out and enjoy together. I also still have plenty of 2 wheeled projects in the garage to keep me busy...

This happened a couple years ago but hopefully it's still ok to post.

I bought a Guzzi V85TT before I retired because I wanted to do some touring.

I liked the bike, but due to a couple things including being a total Ducati fanboy, the bike and I didn't really bond. Eventually I put money down on another Ducati and put the Guzzi up for sale. NO TRADES. Said it right in the ad.

First reply was an offer for a trade involving literal trash - multiple non running bikes and PWCs. I mean this was actual TRASH. This is why I hate selling stuff. Offer refused. I then got ANOTHER offer for a trade. But this one had a twist. It was for a bike I had fallen head over heels for when it was new. I even spent years looking for one later on but the right bike never appeared. I finally gave up looking and now one came knocking. What are the odds? But I needed money for the new bike, couldn't make a trade. I started writing the rejection letter. But by the time I was done writing it, I was asking for more info.

Long story short, this ended up on my garage.

1993 Ducati 900ss Super Light. One year only model in the USA. It had sat for 20 years and needed work but I have a soft spot for these sort of things. I ended up having to sell another bike to prep for the new Duc.

When my wife saw the SL she said "So you traded a basically new Moto Guzzi for a 20 year old Ducati?" And I said "NO! I traded it for a _30_ year old Ducati!"

She didn't think that was as funny as I did.

But I finally had a Super Light!
