Did you get your coil or coils test H ? dont know how you test them but hope thats the problem ....

just ordered a new set of Dyna coils, new wires, points and condenser. Hopefully this will help get things going!

I have installed the coils, condensor, checked wiring, new ignition, replaced the points, all ready for the reg/rec....

Problem, i don't know how to match up the wiring from the 450nighthawk reg/rec i ordered with the stock reg and rec that i had...i've attached photos, if anyone can shed some light on which wires should go where, that would be awesome. The stock rec unit came with 4 wires...all different colors. the stock reg came with 3 wires, all different colors. the new reg/rec combo comes with two sets of 3 wires...one set is all yellow. the other is 3 colors with a hot insulated line coming out of it...which one is which? any suggestions on install?

Each of the yellow wires will connect to the yellow wires from your stator. The green goes to ground and the red goes directly to your battery.

Sonreirs got it. Yellows are for the stator. Hondas ground wire is always green. Sometimes stator wires are white also, either way they're either all white or all yellow.

I feel you pain henry have been in the shop all day messing with the wiring . I have the same Rec/Reg and i have all white wires not yellow . Im tellin yea its the DEVILS WORK wiring is ! please post up some pics when you get it and remember what you did so you can help me LOL

Waiting for my rings to get here from our neighbors to the north. I believe they are being hand delivered via royal canadian mountee. Got some new valves, which will be nice. in the interim, i've been cleaning and messing with the aesthetics as well as rewiring and such. I welcome any thoughts on the sticker change...i like the new one as it is a wee bit more era appropriate. Also below you will find a picture of a painting i've been working on whilst waiting on parts and the like. thanks for looking.

The sixth wire coming out of your R/R will be black and that is the sense wire.

Hook it up to a 12v point somewhere that gets switched on with your ignition.

That's what tells the R/R if it's generating enough voltage or not to charge properly.

If you leave it disconnected or connect it to ground, expect to see far more than 15v across the battery terminals

so, after hours of trying to learn wtf i am doing, and much frustration, sweat, tears and blood...things all paid off. Ran a compression test after buttoning her up last night and both cyls came to a nice 148psi...pretty content as it doesn't get much better than that. Now that i put things together tho, i have decided to pull some cosmetic changes as i am not liking the overall look of the bike. thinking of ditching the gold and going with an all silver/black/white and brown combo, the emphasis being on the silver, which will be bare metal. anyway, here's how she sits this morning, still haven't put the pipe's on, that might wait till after my mini-vacation... also going to ditch the headlight, run a smaller bottom mount headlight so it cleans up the top of the forks...then reposition the top signals to some p-clamps.

I agree with the smaller headlight suggestion, but I dig the knee pads...

Can see why you want to get the new bars henry would look sweet with raw metal . Was just at the bike shop and was looking at chrome drag bars. Might be easier to pick up a set of them if they make a fat bar and just stripe the chrome off ?

Well after i got the engine put back together and working with some good compression numbers, i decided i wanted to completely change the cosmetics of the bike, so i'm in the process of doing so. Removed a shitload of paint, got some nice POSH carmel grips...which i love...going to shorten the seat and reupholster it to brown leather...then find a front fender that is nice and shiny and crop it to about a foot or so long for the front (if anyone has one that will work, let me know). All in all, i'm happy with how things are shaping up.
