I've been searching for some keihin cv 32 but no love. Kind of thinking about doing a single carb setup. Found a great build on chop cult for a kz400 with a single carb. I'll post it later.
If this ends up being a resto or cafe build thread, will a moderator move this? Yeah I'm a little concerned. I just wanted the cheapest just to see if this thing runs. The stock on the 305 are 32 keihins, but I know that doesn't really equate since these are flat slides. Maybe if she starts up and it turns into a promising project I'll drop some $$$ on nice carbs. Is there a guide anywhere about selecting carb sizes based on displacement?diggerdanh said:I've heard some pretty bad things about those Chinese Mikuni knockoffs. One guy even told a story of gas eating through the bottom of the bowl. However, even if they work well for you I think that 32mm will be way too big for your 305 - it will be tough to get it tuned. I'm running Mikuni VM30s on my KZ400 and they perform fine but I'm told that VM28s would be sized better for it. Hopefully they work out for you though.

, researching these carbs, possibly getting my grandfather to help fab some sort of manifold, and ordering a 2-1 throttle cable!2000-2011 YAMAHA TTR TT-R 90 125 225 230 250 FUEL GAS PETCOCK SWITCH VALVE https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KLKL6ES/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_r7ILvbD145XFGDesmoBro said:Following i just grabbed one not too long ago where did you get the petcocks?
Thanks Hama. Yeah I ordered two carbs. I read that as well about the cycles overlapping. The main idea is that at the end of the intake of cylinder 1, cylinder 2's intake begins, right? So it happens equally to each cylinder? The more they overlap the more the carb size comes into play I would think. But what do I knowRustyhama said:I've done a 305 cafe build. Mine was running when I got it so I was already way down the track from where you are. Someone may correct me but I don't think you can do a 2 into 1 carb on a 305 because it has a 180 degree crank. The 400 has a 360 degree crank so the carb can feed one cylinder then the next. On the 305 the cycles overlap - if that makes sense. If not you'll need to look it up. I can tell you that generally parts are hard to find but at least you live on the right side of the Pacific. My bike is running pretty sweet now although still a little smokey. Heaps of fun to ride - I speed constantly, it's too hard not to! Good luck!
