Both are, yeah. Setting the lash is easy, but checking cam timing will require the rocker box come off.
 
Sorry I meant the "lash" I checked the timing several times before I started her up for the first time
 
Ok, readjusted the tappet clearance and the compression is still the same in each cylinder.

Checked the head gasket and i can see a small bead of seal all the way around. Would bad valves give the exact same compression in each cylinder?
 
Cam timing is off (there's an echo in here) ;D
Your probably 1 tooth advanced
 
Cam timing affects point timing, but not the other way around.

Cam timing is how the cam gear is situated on the cam chain. When the crankshaft is at top dead center, the two marks on the cam gear need to be parallel with the head.
 
you will have to tilt bike to right so oil doesn't come out of generator cover
 
Here's what I got: it's all open and I'm looking at the markings, I notice that there are two configurations I could bolt the cam sprocket to the cam. The lobes close to the camera WERE down, I'm guessing the are supposed to be up? Either configuration doesn't look like the picture in the manual. Is the picture correct or the way I had it before correct?

When your crankshaft is at TDC (indicated by the LT mark lining up with the mark on the stator), the marks on your camshaft gear will be parallel with the top of the head.

Lobes up or down doesn't matter, only that the marks on the cam gear are parallel with the top of the head.
