Coffee is good!

That is bad ass... I love stuff like this, make me feel like I am doing a science project... So it is a great cup of coffee? I guess I will have to try it! Thanks for the heads up

+1 on the vac pot, they rock! Unfortunately they are on the expensive side ($100 and up). I found mine at a local secondhand store for $8 hahaha.

Just finished my morning double-shot cuppucino...ah... home-roasted Ethiopian Gamballa beans only a few days old, giving rich cocoa notes and a lovely strong, rich taste.

Keep it up guys (the caffeine levels, that is) - boingk

And for me black with no pollutants artificial or otherwise thankyouverymuch.
Yes sir. How else can a guy appreciate the flavors!

Hm-m-m-m. I guess cookin mine in my grandmas old blue pot on the stove(its called a percolator) dont count. All it does is cook coffee so strong it eats the enamel off your teeth.Lol.bj

At the tractor dealership we always have some kind of coffee service /drip/ airpot crap. I really get looks when I walk up to fill my press with hot water and take it to my office/ toolbox. Evidently, service department people aren't supposed to know the difference.

The press is best for regular coffee, although my favorite is espresso made on a stovetop espresso machine I got in Germany on our last trip there. Much better than the electric, although I don't know why.

I bet it was kind of a blissful experience, eh, Brandon?

man, why must complex coffee taste so good? i down too much coffee... probably about 4 or 5 cups between 8am and 2pm...

i want to try that vacuum brew... looks awesome!

you can definitely get one for under $100, you can get them for under $50. The bodum vacuum is a good place to start.

Looks good, emcarthu. Definitely a good thing that there are some more affordable ones out there. I've been looking at alot of the rpemo Japanese stuff and its all crazy. Mines a British Cona that was designed in the 60s and made sometime between then and perhaps 1980.

Don't think so, but I remember sitting in Gloria Jeans at 3am after a good night out in Sydney and having a few macchiatos. Very good atmosphere after nighclubbing.

oh yeah, I assumed you had one! It is the only way to make good hot coffee and a toddy maker is the only way to make cold coffee period. If you are a real coffee person, go buy one of each, and they are very cheap compaired to other makers. Require more work to make a cup, but well worth the effort!

DO IT! DO IT! .........DO IT!
OK OK quit yelling ;D

I just ran out of the beans my best friend brought back from Kilamonjaro, and have two cups worth of Kopi Luack left. :-[
My caffine and sugar habit was based on sweet tea, a gallon a day for decades. I'm down to 2 quarts sweetened with Truvia (great stuff) a day now.
But my coffee is an after dinner treat, good coffee with a teaspoon of real-live sugar to tone down the bitterness. 8)

This is my setup in my office. At home I have a Saeco Aroma. I grind my beans in a Gaggia MDF at home fresh daily for my day at the office :)

I am a gallon a day sweet tea drinker too, still to this day though! Thats a southern thing! I sweeten my tea with splenda, not bad after you get used to it. I love my coffee sweetened with honey, it just makes the overall flavor better! Now speaking of fine coffee, about two years ago, a good friend mailed me a half a pound of pure 100% real Kona beans, hand harvested and roasted over a wood fire in lava rock! He was in Kona and told me he took them right from the hot rock to his condo (he was there for work) vacuum sealed them in a bag and mailed them to me and a few others! The market value of that coffee is about $500! It was very very good, but I am not sure I would buy any, it is not hundreds of dollars better than some ot the shit my local coffee house gets! I can get their best stuff for about $25/lbs. and I ussually get the $10-12/lbs. stuff, it all taste good. Beats the shit out of mega mart bag ground half dirt BS!

With the amount of coffee I drink in a I would go broke if I bought expensive coffee. Don't get me wrong I do get my share of coffee from coffee houses but most of my coffee drinking is folgers I know it sucks but if I have to choose between bike parts and coffee I choose parts. I do have my priorities in order.

Twisted, I feel the same about the Kopi Luack, it's good but not the best I've had. :)
I like free good coffee, Christmas and B-day presents ROCK!!! ;D

Well for you guys who want really good joe for a small amount of change, I will give you one of the best, most heavily guarded secrets in the good java world! BUY A FUCKING TODDYMAKER! Really, do it! Then go buy a bag of mega-mart shelf ready folders breakfast blend, one pound. Put the entire pound of grounds in the toddymaker brew pot, add good spring water, not purified, pure spring, and fill it to the fill line. place the brewer in your fridge for 24 hours, place the brew pot on the container vessel and remove brew plug, leaving the whole unit on the counter at room temp for 4 hours. Now you have a full vessel of perfect brewed coffee. Put it in a mug and heat it in the microwave, or pour about 4oz. over ice and add 6oz. of whole milk and a splash of real vannila extract! You will thank me after you try it! Cheap coffee that most likely taste better than any coffee you have ever had! Toddy is the ONLY way to make cold brew coffee and its hot coffee taste better too. No heating the bean in the brewing means no realease of bitter acid! If you have never had it, please try it, it will change your life!

Are you talking about something like this?

http://www.coffeeoutpost.com/proddetail.php?prod=CE0005

I LOVE cold coffee in the summer, but it's never quite right when I just make coffee and let it get cold then put it on ice. I've heard there are ways to cold brew, but I always figured it involved a supercollider and several billion in federal grants. This thing looks affordable.

God yes, does it ever. Can't emphasise enough how cheap it is to roast your own coffee though! I use an air-popping popcorn maker (Breville 'Crazy Popper' or similar) and buy green beans for around 8 to 12 dollars Aussie per kilo. Delivered to my door, they are around AU$30 per 2.5kg/5.5lb bag. Thats equivalent to around 2kg/4.5lb of roasted beans, and its all top-notch straight from origin stuff.

One I'm keen to try is the sought-after Jamaican Blue estate beans. The fellows I buy through (coffeesnobs.com.au) managed to get a single barrel of them in, but the price is AU$96/1kg! Dad and I bought some Ethiopian and Papua New Guinean stuff instead...then split a kilo of the Jamaican stuff hahaha.

Haven't tried it yet but I'll keep you posted.

Cheers - boingk

DCWP, that is the exact device I have, it is not rocket science and the key to the device is the stone, make sure you use course ground coffee and your stone will last a lot longer! I replace mine about every 9 months. That is the best 40 bucks you will ever spend in the coffee world! I promice you the best cold coffee you have ever put in your mouth! Not only cold though, it makes great coffee altogether, and you make almost a gallon at a time that will hold its great flavor in the fridge for about 5 days, but it never actually makes it but about three at my house! I am the only one drinking it too, Amy does not drink coffee, if Deviant1 comes over, he mooches his share! Makes great espresso for ice latte and excellent cold coffee for all sorts of drinks! Try this, use it to brew a batch of lighly roasted carribbean beans, pour 6 oz on ice, 2oz of kalua (which you can make at home with the toddy), 2oz spiced rum, 1oz of condenced milk. I call it the Kona Worrior!
