holy jesus..

Im starting to think todd's english just gets really bad when hes drunk (most of the time.) But on the rare occasion that he is sober, useful information can be easily deciphered from his crockney typing.

Wow it would take me longer to type that then normal english. He really is putting some effort into these posts. I do appreciate it though ;D

ha ha ha ha no idea what this means, but man i needed a laugh this morning! ha ha ha... I did not paint my boat, i polished the jell coat, and buffed it... i am painting my jet ski... DO i know you? only my buddies know about my boat and jet ski projects????

quick question. What can I use to prep already painted epoxy so that I can repaint? Can I use Denatured alcohol like I used on bare/primered metal?

NO!!! wet sand it and either use PREP or mineral spirits... the alchole is not good for the paint... i use PREP, it is cheap comes in a spray can and is at any local auto parts store... 1 can will last FOREVER! i use that on all the parts before i powder as well... then wipe down with a tack cloth and go to town

well walked out to show my buddy the bike... he left i stayed... next thing i know got the carbs on, v stacks cut down, screens made and installed, coils on, clutch, and both throttle cables on, and found and polished some bolts for the scoop... now i have to go help my brother finish up our chopper build for him... it is getting a bit of a winter make over...

well I figured i would drop in a few pics of what else we are working on... doing a bit of a make over on my brothers chop... last night we got the brackets made up for his fog lights... re did all the wires in the front of the bike and tapped in a power source as well as added 2 running light LED's on front, mocked up for the oil coolers we are adding (thats right 2) re did the internal throttles and lubed the cable WAY more to do... but this puts a HUGE dent in it!

there is a little section in front of the motor... ya... that is where we had to get into and solder all the wires and tap our power line... fun

last night i soaked the chain in simple green, scrubbed it with a soft steel wire brush, rinsed it in water.... did this about 9 times till it looked like new... then i blew it all out with the compressor, put it on the bike! from there i lifted up the rear end and waxed it all up wiht some chain wax. looks like brand new!!! then i got the tail all aligned and torqued down (rear wheel)
i am not all that happy with how the brake side linkage came out so i may re do that, the bar flexes a bit but i will not know how that is till i get it on the ground again. need to figure out the exhaust... sand and paint the seat, put new paint on the tank... wire it up... and FIRE it up... only thing that sucks is i need to wait for a decent day where i can get outside and sand this seat down and shoot some paint... my booth in back has 2 buddies bikes in it right now.
getting there... slow but getting there!

hell if your up this way come by! you can ride the piss out of it! ill grab my other scoot and we can go for a ride!

sorry this is a long one... i have just hit a road block and i need any help i can get... i took a bunch of pics so i hope that makes it easier...

ok... so here is the issue with the exhuast... #1, i dont weld... i have to either get one of my drunk ass buddies to do it or pay to have it done... $ is not somehting i have alot of right now... so i am trying to think of a way to make this work. #2 I need back pressure on this bike, these carbs are a bitch to tune in, without it.. and i am already running V stacks so it is going to be picky anyway...

this is the pipe i am working with.. the stock headers have to be used cause of oval ports and again not a welder
xp7r5c.jpg

now...
i have a set of stock 01 1200 C (sporty) mufflers, that i wanted to try and use.. however, the pipes sizes are off wia bit... the headers are 1 1/2 ID, 1 5/8 OD... and the mufflers are 1 3/4 ID, 1 7/8OD... (i know i woudl have to have a muffler shop make me an adapter so that is a cost i know i have...

the original plan was to just hook them strait up, i would make a hanger off the rear set perch, and be done... well the shifter and brake lever will hit the muffler... and be SUPER quiet from what i hear

shifter hits:

Brake lever hits:

so if i move the muffler in 1 in they will clear, so the muffler shop would have to make me an adapter that has an S that brings the pipe towards the tire by 1 in, and have about 3 in total in length to do it...

distance for the S bend

pipe that 1 in towards the tire clears easy

what i was wondering... has anyone ever made their own baffles? i know in the 70's my dad used to use 2 wing nuts in the drag pipes he had to help make tuning a bit easier...
do you think if i was to put 8 wing nuts in the pipe, 1 row as far in as i could get them and the other about 1.5 in from the end.. that i could get enough pressure? i have even heard of putting a washer on the other side of the wing nuts and using a spring to that conects to the wsher and then the end of the pipe to hold it in there against the nuts to help tune...then i could then just get some turn outs and put those on there.. tell me what you think? or any other ideas... i am lost... think low $$$ an low welding! ha ha ha

Rather than an s bend, could you just put a longer piece of straight pipe on there to help the muffler clear the rear sets? If it's off just a little, maybe you could "shape" the pipe a little (dent it a little with a hammer.) I would think that a small dent wouldn't hurt if you're already looking to add some back pressure.

For adjustable baffles, perhaps you could have two discs that fit inside the pipe or muffle right at the end. Drill four large holes or make large openings in each of the discs. Then bond or weld a nut to the back of one of the discs and have a bolt clamping the two discs together. To adjust the back pressure you would just loosen the bolt, then turn the disks so the holes/opening overlap more or less dependinng on how much you want them open, then tighten the bolt.
