    I guess it's my turn, 1978 CB400t project

    That looks great, man!

Anyone got any advice on painting shocks?

I had similiar concerns. I ended up using rustoleum cold galvanizing compound on my springs. It seems to be holding up allright so far. Others have used regular rattle can paint on their shocks and I haven't heard any complaints about it. Powder coating works. JRK5892 powdercoats a lot of stuff...

    The Ton is Done!

Nice job, man! It must be nice to know that the bike you built is up to the task. I've been considering whether I even want to bother going that fast on my cafe. I'm thinking that it's probably not even worth the risk.

The bike looks great, man! Did you guys get any snow today? We got at least 4 inches.

    Suspension

I don't know much about a front end sap but to fix your throttle issue you'll probably need to reroute the cables. Try messing around with how they're routed and make sure their's no sharp bends in the cable. If you can't get them to move at all you may need to shorten/lengthen them.

    1979 CM400T

I got the turn signals and brake lights working and fiddled with the carbs and it's running pretty well now. It definitely needs more tuning but at least it's running. I'm happy with the new gearing. The rear tire spun a bit accelerating in 1st gear. That was a big shock. ;D I've still got some...

Yeah, getting up the hill sucked but I did it. It took 3 people pushing and sliding in the mud. The turns signals don't work, the front brake light switch stopped functioning for some reason, the clipons are hitting the gas tank, I don't have a seat cushion and the bike won't rev over 4,000 rpm...

    1979 CM400T

Fucking Mud! I got my chain in the mail today. I got it installed and adjusted, got the bike outside and it wouldn't run. I took the carbs off and cleaned them again and it fired up. Rode the bike through the path I had shoveled through the yard and started to go up a small incline and...

    Need advice for next bike

I wasn't thinking cafe necessarily, just old and lighter and faster than my honda. I did some research on enduros, it looks like they'd be a real PITA to get looking good and I have feeling that they would be terrible on the highway. That's one of the reasons I want a larger bike. My 400 will...

    Need advice for next bike

I've seen a couple of XS650's in the area for not too much cash, so I should be able to get one in my price range. An enduro is an interesting idea. I don't know anything about them, though. If I ride in the dirt it's on mountain bike, nothing motorized. It's definitely something I'll look into...

    1979 CM400T

I would have never thought to go to a tomb stone place to get parts blasted. Then again, I probably never would have done it any ways because I'm cheap. I think I have about $14 invested in my blasting cabinet so far. Plus I just ordered a blasting kit for $25, plus gloves for $6. So that's less...

    Need advice for next bike

Well, as I'm winding down my CM400 project, I think it's time to begin thinking about my next project. I had too much fun with the Honda to not build another bike. I also want the opprotunity to do a few things different on the next bike. I'd like everybody's ideas on what would be a good...

    1979 CM400T

I've got a good protective mask that I can use and a shop vac that I can hook up to the cabinet. I'll have to put a hook up on it, maybe a piece of pvc pipe will work. I'm looking forward to trying this thing out. It should save me a ton of time. It's too bad I don't have much to use it for...

    1979 CM400T

I order a pack of fine nozels for use with soda whenever I pick it up. When the nozel gets destroyed I'll buy some new ones. Thanks for the tips. I know that breathing in sand dust is really bad for you. Will using sand as a blasting medium inside a cabinet for rough work be dangerous?

    1979 CM400T

JRK, I changed the order to 70 grit aluminum oxide. I had never heard that about glass beads. Then again, I've never blasted anything. Thanks for the heads up. I think that will be the last time I ever try to call harbor freight. The first number I called was an overseas place and they couldn't...
