    78 CB550 Battery not charging

I used to have serious charging problems on my cb550. I'm running a stock harness, but the best change I made to the harness was to add a ground wire connection to the frame of the bike. I soldered a pigtail to the green ground wire up near the coils and added a ring terminal. I scraped the...

Short / low current issue after sitting: where to start diagnosis?

I've got two of these beasts. Every time I've had a problem with the main fuse popping, it's been due to a buildup of tarnish on the brass connectors. At the very least, you should clean all the brass blades on the fuse block with a good metal polish. If you want to make sure you've solved the...

    CB750k seat on a CB750F (sohc)?

The frame of the k model is identical to that of the f model. The seats and tanks are interchangeable.

    78' sohc 750

Looks like the valve adjustment cap on #3 exhaust has been leaking. I would start by replacing that o-ring because that's the easiest. If that's not the problem, then it has to be a leaky valve cover o-ring.

    Rearsets HELP

That's the tube where the original brake lever assembly would rotate. No need for it if you're not putting the original brake setup back on.

    CB650 gas tank bolt

If it were me, I'd get a nut splitter on the nut. Some places call it a nut cracker or a nut breaker. Here's one from craftsman, but I'm sure Harbor Freight must have a cheap alternative. http://www.craftsman.com/craftsman-nut-cracker/p-00904772000P This is how they work...

CB 550 Cam Shaft Removal issues:(

It's not enough to loosen the jam nut on the cam chain tensioner. You have to turn the adjuster bolt counter clockwise as far as it will go and tighten the jam nut in that position to get the tensioner to back all the way off for maximum slack. If you just loosen them jam nut, the tensioner will...

CB 550 Cam Shaft Removal issues:(

You have to tap the sprocket sideways slightly away from the flange that the two bolts threaded into. Theres a shoulder that the sprocket fits snugly on and it may be stuck a bit. Tap it with a soft face mallet. Once it's free, there will be a large notch on one side of the Center hole in the...

    What is this?

It's a diode that works in conjunction with your starter switch, clutch switch and starter motor. It makes it so that if the engine is in gear, the starter motor won't work unless the clutch lever is pulled in.

Help me figure out my neutral light indicator light wiring.

As minicafe said, the neutral light ground wire must run to the neutral switch. To get the aftermarket speedo to work, you'll have to split the ground so that only the high beam and indicator lights are grounded to the bike and a separate ground goes from the neutral light to the neutral switch...

Rear wheel assy For '77 cb550f

the wheel assembly parts that are not shared between the 550k and the 550f are the spacers on either side of the wheel. The sprocket side spacer is held to the wheel by the sprocket cover. Both spacers are longer on the 550f, so if your wheel assembly is from a 550k, the spacers will be too...
