I am having a problem getting my ’81 Honda 750c to idle below 1500 rpm’s. It will “idle” at 3000 rpm’s but when I dial the idle screw down to reach 1500 rpm’s or so the bike soon sputters and dies.
Other than the idle issue the bike runs great. Full power with no sputters through all rpm’s and...
Update. When I had the bike running with the auxiliary gas tank hooked up fuel was coming out the overflow lines and the bike acted like it was flooded. I unhooked the gas tank and let it sit for about 20 minutes. I started it again without the gas tank attached and it seemed to run perfect on...
So I fired the bike up just now. Used a temporary auxiliary gas tank to supply the fuel. Started right up but dumped a bunch of gas out of the overflow tube(s). Couldn't tell if it came out of more than one. Do you think this is a problem related to the auxiliary gas tank or something else?
Thanks for all the input. Always get good feedback on this forum. Can anyone fill me in about the vacuum operated fuel valve? What issues does it present? Is there something I should do to deal with whatever problems it creates?
I recently took the carbs off my 1981 Honda CB750c to rebuild them. I reinstalled the carbs and am going to use pod filters instead of the factory airbox. Yes I know people say it is going to run poorly with pod filters. But I am going to find out for myself.
Now that the carbs are reinstalled...
I have a 1981 Honda CB750c. I am removing the air box and putting pod air filters on it. I need to remove the breather hoses that ran to the air box and replace them with an alternative way of handling the breather function. I have seen little filters that go where the right hand hose is. I have...
I am trying to remove the swing arm bearings on my 81 750c. Before I can get to them I need to remove the thrust bushings. It is not obvious to me how to get them out and needless to say I don't want to mess them up. What the best way to accomplish that task?
I would appreciate your help! Thanks.
I have removed the engine from my CB750c. It is generally very good shape but there is a significant amount of greasy buildup on the outside of the engine cases and tranny. There is also some tar here and there.
I want to clean it up really well. The closer I can get it to being absolutely...
OK guys. Thanks for the feedback. First a comment to clarify the motor. An 81 Honda CB750c is a DOHC motor.
I have attached a picture of the two hoses I am talking about. I would appreciate it if someone would clarify what the purpose of these two hoses are.
As always, thanks in advance for...
I have a CB750c that I made into a Cafe Racer a couple of years ago. It looks good as is but I am going to rework it some this winter. The first thing I have done is remove the airbox and put on some K&N pod filters. I have a question about the hoses that ran from the airbox back to the engine...
Hi Gang,
I am rejetting the carbs on my CB750c. I am using a Dynojet kit to do a stage 3 rejet. I need to remove the plug to get at the mixture screw. Per their directions I drilled through the plug and used the screw they provided to give me leverage to pull it out. However, I have used quite...
Hi Gang,
I am going to rejet the carbs on my 1981 Honda CB750c. I am running an aftermarket Mac 4 into 1 exhaust and 4 K&N pod filters. I found a Dynojet kit that provides the parts to do what they call a stage three jetting which is said to be for my type of setup.
First question is has...
I want to remove the odometer reset knob on my cb750 speedo. It is not obvious to me how it comes off. Is it pressed on? Is it screwed on? I would appreciate any advice as to how I should remove it without damaging anything.
Thanks in advance for your help!
