Would a tank from a 1980 cb 750 fit my 79 cm400t? stanks,

I had a similar issue with my CM400. For me it came down to the spring. Its job is to mimic the position i believe of the right side air intake. At the end of the cylindrical piece that isnt shairing the fuel their is a small flat piece with bent out catches or groves that the spring hooked...
