    1981 Yamaha XS1100 Uberbike-Project Juggernaut

I unfortunately have not made much progress on Juggy thanks to all my other vehicles deciding to hate me at once. But today I got some goodies in that Ive been waiting for. My slave cylinder mount and my upper triple. Here's the salve cylinder mount. Its made from 5/16" aluminum and has fancy...

    1981 Yamaha XS1100 Uberbike-Project Juggernaut

Actually I think Ill be OK on the signals. I originally bought a monster headlight bracket for a bike without the fairing and did not realize it. I found another one in better shape with the fairing tabs, already black, and with the gauge support structure attached for half what I paid for the...

I got my swingarm pivot plate a few days ago. Its milled out of 3/8" steel and threaded through for the pivot axle. Im going to gusset and brace the hell out of it. I think it will do nicely. Ill have the monoshock mounting mocked up in the next few days too.

    FZR600 fighter

My front end is pretty stiff, so I havent had too much trouble with diving from over braking, but that stiffness probably helped the feel of the conventional MC as well. But the first few times I rode it after the swap, I did slightly overbrake a few times coming to a stop, but nothing...

    FZR600 fighter

I just put a Brembo R6 radial brake MC on my FZR in place of the conventional R6 MC I had on there. Honestly, I think I liked the conventional one better. It was a bit firmer, but had better feedback for me(with blue dot calipers, switching to gold dot soon). I still really like the radial setup...

My CF fairing finally showed today. First thing I noticed is that my turn signals wont work with it, they hit in multiple places, so I need something with a longer, thinner stalk. I also need to make a tab for one of the mounts on the fairing. Im pretty happy with it overall. Still needs some...

I need a copy of photoshop so bad. I was playing around with some pics today trying to finalize my tail plans. Im about 95% Im still going with the Duc mono tail in the tasty CF flavor. But I wanted to see how it would look and what kind of exhaust setup I want to do. I took a stock duc tail...

Who gets rid of their idiot lights on their street fighters?

If all your idiot lights dont work now, they probably wont work when you install an Acewell either, you need to fix that problem first. My guess is there is a broken ground somewhere. Usually, the indicator lights share a ground connection(at least on most of the bikes Ive worked on). I am...

Lots of good info over there, but I just dont fit in in that crowd. I am a customizer by nature, and the purists reactions are interesting. And Im dont care to see more political talk than tech on a motorcycle forum.

I agree. And this is intended to be my highway ride, so simplicity and reliability is important. A 30 year old air cooled engine is hard to kill so long as its well maintained. This engine's weakness is the electrical system, which I will hopefully greatly improve. Air cooled means less parts...

I will have to have a spacer like this made: the spacer is already taken care of and is quite the piece with correct guide and seal surfaces. It should look like this installed: (not my bike, but it was the intitial inspiration for the FJR setup after I found out how long the chaindrive...

If the swingarms interchacnge, then it should be a viable swap for the 850 as well. I imagine the middle drive is a bit different, but Im not sure on that. I am new to whole XS world and am learning as I go. It would be a whole lot easier if I started with a complete bike instead of piece by...

    1981 Yamaha XS1100 Uberbike-Project Juggernaut

Its a FJR swingarm, not a FJ, big difference. The swingarm itself does not need much to line up properly. I havent messed with the 850s before, but its a tight fit inside the 1100 frame. A little light grinding on the frame pivot mounts and modifying the spacer washer on the pivot plus the left...

HEY!!.. Whos Doing an XS650 Build or who Rides an XS650?...

Im building an XS1100. It shares a lot of parts with the 650. I really like seeing all the modified XS's on this site. Im on a XS forum and while it has good info on the bike, there isnt a lot of extreme modifications going on. Id like to pick up a XS650 this year to play with. Im thinking a...
