    V-Star Lead Sled

As my Seca II cafe project kept getting longer in the tooth, I bought a 2000 V-Star Classic XVS 650 just to have something to ride. As things turned out, I couldn't leave well enough alone. Not Bratstyle or a bobber, but something a little different. I liked the fatty look of the bike and...

    Eastwood's Diamond Clear Satin Anyone?

I'm looking ahead to rattle canning my bike when the weather warms up and dries out. I'd like to go with the bare metal look on my tank and fenders. Everything I read says just clear coating them won't seal out moisture and prevent rust. Also, that it doesn't stick well without paint. I don't...

    Look, Signal, Manoeuvre!

Although "Tom" is kind of a dork, here's a cool old Brit motorcycle safety film. Love their apparel and the Matchless. Look, Signal, Manoeuvre

    Life Magazine: Daytona 1948

Not so much Cafe, but these are great photos of the 1948 Daytona Motorcycle Race run on the famous beach sand. Love the kid's "Indian" mini bike! http://tinyurl.com/yc3r5qj

    Whoa! These bars are thick!

I've got drag bars on my bike and decided to order a pair of bar end mirrors. Not nice Napoleons, but the Emgo knock-off version. When I tried to mount the mirrors I find the walls of the bars are really thick which makes it impossible to insert the brackets. Other than drill out the bars, is...

    Appliance Paint... Fuel Proof?

I'm at the point where I'm ready to rattle can the fuel tank on my bike. I may have read on here somewhere that Krylon Appliance Epoxy is resistant to fuel spillage. Is this true? Or... what about using Engine Paint for the tank? Would this be somewhat impervious to a spill?

Splicing Wires... How Do I Make it Neat and Reliable?

This topic came up on another thread... I'm installing mini gauges and some new turn signals and tail light on my Yamaha Seca II project. The wiring harness is in great shape, so I'd like the new additions to splice in without much pillaging. Anybody got some tips? I've never taken on a bike...

    Stainless Steel Ties

The following is proof that I'm no mechanical genius... I'm wrapping the exhaust on my bike and have these snazzy stainless steel ties. They seem much more sleek than hose clamps for permanently holding the wrap, except that I can't seem to figure out how to get them to tighten down securely...

Cans & Fins... How Hot Do They Get?

This is a rattle can question... I've got the high temperature paint for my exhaust tubes, but was wondering: How hot do the cooling fins around the engine cylinders and the actual mufflers get? Rather than paining these flat black, ala BBQ paint, would Duplicolor 500 degree engine paint be...

    Vintage Jacket 101

Ok, I'm a FNG with a Joe Rocket textile jacket. I've always liked everything vintage, and now I'm coming around to jackets. My favorite, faithful (except for that broken zipper) leather jacket was bought in TJ maybe 20 years ago. No name brand, but awesome none-the-less. I'm ready for something...

    Almost Afraid to Ask...

I said, "almost." I've got my eye on a couple of Airtech Streamling seat options for my fat-butt Yamaha, but was just curious... has anyone had any experience with these ABS plastic seats sold on ebay? How's their quality? Do they hold up in the sunlight and general use? Personally, I don't put...
