Guzzi Cali Cafe - Build Thread

Cool build...nice looking drill job on the final drive. I've seen a build where the flange was removed.

The master cylinder mounting holes are the same for the front and rear. I mounted mine in the stock position and ran a flexible fluid line down from the reservoir instead of the steel one. You could also put a reservoir directly on top, simply pullout the plastic elbow.

Not sure what you mean about using the front m/c. Using a front m/c in place of the rear when de-linking the brakes on the V50 will yield an acceptable lever ratio

Hi Dale, glad to see you picked it up again. I haven't been here in a while as my favorite builds all seem to have stalled. The new tail section looks great BTW. Don't lose the momentum!

Hey cheesy, I noticed you want to de-link the brakes. iirc you use a front master cylinder in the rear. The mounting holes are the same. I just ran a line up to the reservoir. I think I posted it in Dale's build thread.

Hey Dale, Just found this...wondered where you went from the V50. That bodywork just begs to be tossed. Ugh, what were they thinking! The photoshops look awesome. as long as you have it apart...the 944or larger kits really wake this motor up. I've got a 990 kit, open airbox/K&N, and Keihin...

    '82 Moto Guzzi v50 Rebuild/Redesign

I've de-linked mine...the recommended master to use is the front, to keep the braking ratios close. It also fits the same mounting pattern. There is lots of info in "Guzziology" It's a worthwhile purchace

Nope...wasn't sure anyone wanted to see another one of those "build by numbers" bikes. I don't have any tear down pics...only took 4 hrs to get to the bare frame. I can, if anyone's interested. I'll call it an AlumaRycaZuki. It'll be a while though as I'd like to have all the custom parts...

Was checkin' it out back in Sept/Oct...not much happening then. Just thought I'd check back. Love those modular wheels. I know what it's like spending a month of Sundays polishing something, but it looks great in the end. Marvic/Akront made some for the Superlight 900ss for a couple of years...

I'm pretty sure a "ring and pinion is a ring and pinion" when it comes to setting the backlash. You should be able to find a pic or illustration in any shop manual to see the contact pattern :)

Re: Moto Guzzi V50 II Cafe Hi Dale, I used 85w-140 Castrol Full Synthetic even though they said the moly doesn't stay mixed...160cc oil, 10cc moly. I measured it out.
