Need your help on three items

The first item looks like an idler/fulcrum point for a remote gear lever/linkage. I can't help with the other 2 points :'(

ignition coil & pulse generator ohms readings

Unless your meter cost a fair bit, it could just be a cheap meter giving inaccurate readings. What's the problem and what's the bike? EDIT: I guess it's the XL.... I don't know about the XL directly, but I do know that the bigger CR's from the same era had issues with earting/grounding -...

    Suzuki GN400 Scrambler/Cafe Hybrid

If you can solder and wind some string round a broom handle neatly, you can rewind a single coil :) A friend runs an older A6 and broke the outer plastic lens on his car, so I had the remnants from him for this exact purpose once he'd got a new lamp unit. You could try a car body shop for...

    Suzuki GN400 Scrambler/Cafe Hybrid

You can rewind those single coil generators yourself, just get some appropriate wire (sligtly thicker for more AMPs) and wind on as much as you can. Regarding HiD bulbs in old reflectors, the beam pattern would be awful as the light output is hugley different, but you can cannibalise car...

    XT550 regulator/rectifier fried?

Fixed - that's what I like to hear!

    XT550 regulator/rectifier fried?

Is the genny outputting 30 V AC accross the terminals or from each wire to ground? - although any output is a good sign here. The reg/rec will charge the battery and dump off excess current via itself in the form of heat, it sounds from the info supplied that as it's been dumping everything...

I got mine from eBay, not sure where to look locally though - and it's not something I'd want to ask for in a shop, for obvious reasons 8)

I've seen a lot of info on the BMW forums about brake bleeding and there are different ways people find 'best' (for them) I personally bleed brakes by starting with a dry system and use a large syringe with some tubing attached to the syringe and the other end on the bleed nipple - undo the...

    Collective Skills - UK

Beech, have a look on youtube at some of the turning video's, you'll soon go 'aha' and get it - it would be invaluable for making spacers up etc. Surp, I bought a Chinese knock off of a Honda GX motor, with electric start and a 12v output for battery charging, superb bit of kit for the money...

    Collective Skills - UK

Hi surp - you found me waffling in a BMW thread, as predicted :) I've got a shot/bead blaster and it's a superb bit of kit once I'd found a way to generate enough air flow, I ended up building a 28CFM compressor powered by a petrol engine as I couldn't get the required 5.5hp from mains...

    Collective Skills - UK

Lucky for some hey, I could use a Holiday! Which one is the 'official' one? I'm on BMBikes. Sounds like you've got your hands full, which is always good - I found myself in a similar position wanting spacers etc made up, in the end I bought a mini lathe and do my own stuff - check out Amadeal...

Trail Tech Vapor & Dashboard 6V? Or any other ideas??

The backlight built into the vapor is an LED I believe, the add-on dash surround I don't know about but would imaging they're just 12v lamps. It's probably much easier to convert the bike to 12v using a universal single phase regulator/rectifier - you'll need a 12v battery, bulbs and a flasher...

Trail Tech Vapor & Dashboard 6V? Or any other ideas??

I think (note think!!) that they'll work off pretty much any voltage, I've got one myself but wired it in years ago, but remember seeing something about being able to connect it directly to the generator output (AC) on bikes with minimal wiring. I would imagine it will work on anything 3v...

EGLI frame, TR1 engine, build from scratch

Take a look at the throttle splitter used on later air cooled DT125's - the one I have is the perfect throttle splitter for running twin carbs (instead of a single carb and oil pump) It has a single cable entry and two cable outlet, the cables are thicker than most small bikes - I ran one on my...

Good to see another BMW getting the treatment. Are you UK based? I spotted a Halfords tool box :) Motobins and Motoworks are good for parts, both used and new - they are nothing to do with me, but I've used them both for parts for my own BMW build and they're good. There's South Coast boxers...

    6V battery need special lights?

I've got a set of these on my desk. The bulbs can be changed for 6v ones, they are a standard size. BUT - you see the nut on the mounting stalk, that is some odd thread and not metric, probably not an issue if you're in the USA though. You could convert the XT to 12v electrics quite easily...
