CB750 Rear Cam Chain Tenioner Removal?

Guilty as charged! Turns out that top strap with the two bolt holes in it is NOT attached to the actual tensioner that stays down in the cam tunnel. In fact, it just slips off with a slight upward tug. doh. Problem solved. I hope this won't be charged against my "help!" account :)

CB750 Rear Cam Chain Tenioner Removal?

These are the two offending bolts, which are attached interior to the tensioner. The bottom one seems to be obstructed from receding all the way into the tunnel, and I've tried manipulating the crank-to-exh. cam chain to no avail. It's all loose, but the cylinder head won't come off without...

CB750 Rear Cam Chain Tenioner Removal?

Hey gang. I'm in the middle of top end engine dissassembly on my 1980 cb750, and I'm trying to remove the cylinder head. My manual gives me good instructions on how to remove both cams by manipulation the cam chain tensioners to slacken so as to remove the cams. Done. After slowly removing...

nothing built too strong ever broke

Re: you pussys dont know heavy metal Dang it, I thought this was going to be a Slipknot thread ;D. Beautiful work man, just tuck those thumbs in; I hear those wheels are notorious for making them flat and blue!

What's the one thing you wanted to buy for your project but it was too expensive

This.... .... is so sexy and would look soooo sweet on my cb750. I think I'm going to need a few minutes alone... ;)

My first try at a seat. What do you think?

+1 Also, if I understand epoxy, I think one of the objectives is to rough-up the otherwise smooth surface of the epoxy so that it will accept paint...unless of course you are just making a plug. In which case smooth-as-a-baby's-bottom is the call. :)

    R Squared

Great vision, excellent execution. So as investments go, what are your expectations? Just some rough numbers here but if you got the bike for $2k, put another $2k into the mods, is it fair to think you can get 8 or 10k in a few years, or am I way off base? Just curious.

The café one is sweet. What year and version? I love my 1980 CB750 but if I get another bike I want it to be like yours.

    Interior Drawing of Keihin VB42a Off a 1980 CB750

Screwed the pooch with all my links on the first try so here's the second attempt. Thanks Teaser for the link; some good drawings I hadn't discovered yet. Also thanks to MildlyCrazy (?) for the drawing...yet another I was not able to find in the ethers. Interesting that I thought the needle...

    Interior Drawing of Keihin VB42a Off a 1980 CB750

Jackpot! Thanks crazypj, that's exactly what I'm looking for. I'll draw up another rendition with your changes tomorrow. Part of what I've noticed when reading about these types of carbs is the nomenclature gets used differently in many places. Pilot, slow, idle and choke to name just a few...

    Interior Drawing of Keihin VB42a Off a 1980 CB750

Glad you pointed that out! I was assuming the crescent-shaped opening in the fresh air entrance was how a vacuum was produced on the upper surface of the piston, but it didn't make sense to me being where I would intuitively think a higher pressure would be generated... I guess I always...

    Interior Drawing of Keihin VB42a Off a 1980 CB750

As I understand the air cutoff circuit, it richens up the mixture on deceleration in order to eliminate back-fires. Does it co-opt an existing port/jet, or does it have a dedicated one of it's own? Scale, not so much; really trying to get my head around the accumulation of atomized fuel as a...

    Interior Drawing of Keihin VB42a Off a 1980 CB750

Ok, here's the thing...I'm newish here and it appears I'm also a bit of a masochist. I seem to like the almost woman-like complexity and, at times, contradictions, of the EPA-inspired Keihin CV carburetor. It intrigues me, so I dig deeper, ever trying to untangle the mystery of her inner...

    Small rant

This^. My hunch is that this guy has a pretty fancy computer that he's using, probably a decent smart phone, tuition paid for by someone else and maybe a little spare change to party and stay up at 4 a.m. trying to game the system for a discount. My suggestion is if he really wants to get...

Cafe racers at the "Ace" and thoughts on hipsters

I saw the Ramones when they backed up Lou Reed in 1979 I think. Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, or as we liked to call it, the Aragon Brawlroom. They weren't calling it Punk as I recall, but then it's amazing that I can recall anything these days. Back then half the time you listened to the...

Darn it! Too late... by my records I've already dropped close to $400 with DCC. I just like their stuff. Taking my posts to dollars ratio at this point it looks like I'm going to be spending another $2,428 before I can clip my coupon. :( I own a business and understand why companies offer...
