360 swiftly

Really loving this build, totally copying your rear hoop and taillight mount configuration, going for a flat skateboard style seat as well, thanks for the inspiration

Seat is almost done.

I think it came out pretty damn good for being made by me. I did have the help of a quilter for the stitching and a tool and die maker for the layouts, but all of us have no experience with upholstery. I have been using my family resources to the fullest for this project!!

dude thats fucking SICK! I really thought you sent that out to get done. Congrats on the great job.

Had my personal (retired) tool and die maker help me make the spacer for my master cylinder.

There is a lot of crap going on here in a very small area!

Anyone know a good place where I could get a custom 1 piece brake line made??? I am not to happy about all the extra line jammed in the mess of wires and cables behind the headlight.

Seat looks nice, even tho I'm no Brat enthusiast whatsoever. What happened to the original seat? I just split the cover on mine & am looking for a replacement - yours looked like new. I might be able to help finance your project.

I have been pretty busy lately with non bike related stuff, but the bike is all together and very very close to being ready. I probably have like 3 hours left of work to finish it but this week is shot due to a wedding and mini vacation.

I had some issues with the timing this past weekend and now I am waiting on a set of new points. I also have to sync carbs / install the bigger jets, and finish up a little work on the seat. That is it. The end is so close it is driving me crazy that I can’t work on it.

I would much rather be in the garage than packing and doing laundry. I will post up some pics next weekend when she is done and on the road!!!!

There are q couple of places on ebay that do custom hoses. I found a guy in Canada that made me a couple of sets with black covers over the stainless braid for a totally cool look.

Just be sure to allow enough length for the forks to be fully extended and to make sure that teh brake tubes cannot touch teh tire when you brake.

I made the first mistake which is expensive to order a replacement or more expensive if the line gets over extended and leaks/bursts.

A racer buddy had the brake lines routed the wrong way and when he braked hard they touched the tire which removed them in one swoop and voila - no brakes - followed by sky-air-sky-air etc. Fixing teh bike took all night. Fixing him took a little longer. :'(

Hey andor awesome build. I have a question about the tire sizing you ran,can you still use the front fender with that sizing in the front? It looks like length wise it will handle it butt hows the width looking? do you think it would fit?

The tire is a 90/90 so it should be ok. Honestly it haven't tried it yet. I hope it fits. Eventually I plan on chopping down the stock fender and putting it back on.

Timing issues are solved. I still need to do some work on the carbs, but the seat is done!

Just have some small wiring things to finish up then she is done for now.

I have already started the list for the winter which includes painting the tank and making the exhaust a little more passenger friendly. Girls don't like sooty burned knees!

I had an interesting weekend. Got the bike all ready to go and took it for a ride on my regular 2 mile carb tuning loop. I happened to pass a cop on the side of the road about a 1/4 mile from my house. He pulled me over and looked over my bike pretty good making some stupid comments. I then waited for about 15mins while he sat in his car trying to find something to give me a ticket for. Eventually he comes out and gives me a $90 ticket for no eye protection. I am not pissed about the ticket because I was breaking the law but I am pissed about the fact that he pulled me over only because I was on a loud bike and then proceeded to find everything he could on me. Rural cops suck. I lived in the city for 19 years and did some pretty stupid things and never had any problems.

Anyway the bike is not running to great I am having the usual midrange issues with pods and straight pipes. I have a few things to go thought on the carbs to see if I can get it better but may end up putting some mufflers on.

Here are some picks from the weekend.

I'm sure you've heard this a zillion times but swap those CV carbs for mechanical slides and you'll be able to tune it well. As it stands, your vacuum operated slides will screw you continually. You may be able to 'bandaid' them into working but they'll never meter your fuel correctly.
Mikuni VMs and Keihin PWKs would work great for you and would be fairly simple to dial in....plus they'll make more power and have much better throttle response.

I do love the look of your bike mate. I've been thinking about one of the 450's in storage lately...like I need yet another project.....and wanting to keep the 2-up capability have been thinking about a similar seat. Yours looks really good and I may go that way on it myself...someday. hehe
