Anybody know, how long too wait after spraying Spray Max Glamour High gloss Clear before wet sanding and recoat?
With heat lamps, about 12 hours. Make sure when you wet sand, you want the water to remain clear.

thanks bro, they really need to put some kind of instructions on the can. they have vids on the site, for other products. yet nothing about treatment for the clear coats.

Thanks, not bad for a 48yo half blind, elevator man from the Village of Fairmount. LOL

Now that its had a few hours to harden up on the partly sunny patio. The shine is really looking good. the first coat was actually 3 coats, (2 light and 1 heavier w 7 minutes between each coat). Looking good enough I may not risk a second round of paint (dust, runs and or bugs  ) and go straight for a round of clear coats, wet sand and another single clear coat.

Re: Rachels, 72 CL100, Getting Close to color..

bout 6 hours in the sun, its good and dry now. Get REALLY close it still has that subtle orange peel-y typical of spray can paint. But I hope I can minimize that w the clear.

I coulda spent more time prepping the primer...but that work just sucks.

What ev. Shoulda, coulda, woulda. ::)

Cracked & repaired sidecovers look good. Til they crack again on install. ;)

I dont know why they even bother to waste the ink it takes to print directions on the cans!?!?

Im not going to follow them anyways.

"Wait 36 hours to re-coat" they say...

I say, "What do they know? 24 of MY hours is the same as 36 of THIERS."

Thank goodness it happened BEFORE I re-coated them all. So, just the one, sidecover. ;) Gotta love it.

Re: Rachels, 72 CL100, Getting Close to color..

Bummer man. I painted a snowboard deck a while back and I had that happen on the first paint scheme...so I scrapped it and did something better

Found an old pic. Came out pretty cool, sometimes a whoopsie like that isn't always a bad thing

disgusted w myself. I turned my attention to the bike.

Had to practically break the speedo to get it open. The innerds was all jammed up. Lubed w penetrant and wiggled the little cog w my screwdriver freed her up. Now working. So, got it installed.

My clutch must be routed improperly sweet to see your tank is taming itself down.

Here in the Mid West we use trash can lids and inner tubes to go down hills. Whats a snow board?

Us too...........................when I lived in the mid eastern shore, growing up.

Haven't seen enough snow to make yellow since leaving Germany in 1992.

80. hahahaha.

No no no, look closer. It tops out at "ONLY" 75 in 5th! ;D

OK, had a pretty productive eve. Got her 99% together...other than the obvious.

Chain & guard installed and adj. EVERYTHING bolted and properly torqued. Air filter, pegs installed, front and rear brake switches adjusted, etc.

Hell, I may get her fired up and get the engine paint to cure. Ensure sure shes still a runner.

Then, install and adj new points/timing.

Just a matter of catching up this side cover and clearing everything at one time.

Wet sanded her down, AGGRESSIVELY, w 800 grit. (working out my frustrations)

WAITING PATIENTLY, then re-spray color coat tomorrow night. (36 hours, starting now ::)) Ready for clear on Friday. 8)

Re: Re: Rachels, 72 CL100, Getting Close to color..

Moving right along....................good job.

Tried playing with mine, gonna have to wait for the new harness.

Re: Rachels, 72 CL100, Paint advice needed.

Ok now, not sure why. But seems my process has turned.
When I painted the 360, I sprayed color and clear coats back to back. Waited a week, wet sanded clear then another coat. That system worked great.

Now for reasons unknown, my process changed.

I sprayed color and am waiting for it to dry before applying clear. This seems wrong.

So my question is...

The color is plain paint, nothing fancy, not metallic or anything like that.

Can I wet sand it, 1000 then 1500, then shoot clear over it? I don't think it would hurt anything.
Or am I wrong?

Re: Rachels, 72 CL100, Paint advice needed.

I will generally apply color and clear back to back. If you aren't applying back to back, let the color cure out before wet sanding and you'll be fine.

Re: Re: Rachels, 72 CL100, Paint advice needed.

I know nothing about painting......my brother is the bees knees when it comes to sh1t like this and he lives 12 hours away.

Boy, wish either I still lived there or he lived here.

On another note:

I got my little CB100 fired today............daughter's car crapped out and takes priority. She has an hour drive to work one way.

Shhhhheeeeeeettt man, life has once again taken priority.

Oh well........

Plus the kick lever, is slipping on the shaft.......uuuuggggggghhhhhhh..!!!!!!!!

Re: Rachels, 72 CL100, Paint advice needed.

Bud lite
I have both the kickstart lever and the shaft from the broken 100 that came with my frame. If you need either or both, pm me
