Was a nice short little ride... if only the roads were a little dryer. Great to meet you guys, though!
Tyler and Chris: I couldn't hear my bike at all over the sound of both of yours roarin' out in front of me. I might have to amend that problem soon...

Haha, it all starts with a louder exhaust. Then half a year later you wake up with a bad hangover, a custom bike, and no recollection of having built it.

Ha ha, thanks man. That might just be the first time I've been called a role model. You need any help with anything, don't hesitate to ask; we're a friendly bunch, for the most part.
Re: '75 CB550 - the "Le Mans Special" - she lost 90 lbs on her diet
There's probably not much point posting on this anymore, but I had to say it - wow.
I had to read this in stages, but now that I finally got through it I'm totally blown away by it.
Makes me want to give up before starting on my build, but I guess we all have to start somewhere.
Re: '75 CB550 - the "Le Mans Special" - she lost 90 lbs on her diet
I had the same thoughts, and I commented something similar a while back. I too thought I would just throw in the towel as I have been doing this kind of stuff for nearly 8 years and this guy pulls this bike out of his ass - seems unfair. His bike did turn out to be amazing. I suspect Ringo is a closet Pro and is posing as a noob. If he was outted as a pro would this bike be any less awesome? - probably not. But nobody just says "oh I think I will build a bike from scratch with no experience today" and comes out with this thing of beauty. Either he has done similar work professionally or has a background of skill set unknown to the rest of us. I'm on to you poser - I'll be watching..............
LOL! A sweet bike by all respects. Now don't do something stupid and crack it all up.
Re: '75 CB550 - the "Le Mans Special" - she lost 90 lbs on her diet
Ha, Im a firefighter too, so I know thats not where he gets his skills from, but the schedule does allow you a bit of extra free time to have a side job, or build bikes. Im with you though, having the vision to build a bike like that is one thing but to execute it so flawlessly leads me to believe he is no rookie.
Re: '75 CB550 - the "Le Mans Special" - she lost 90 lbs on her diet
Dedication to his own vision. Thats it gents. This bike built by a firefighter, Troys bike built by a farmer, Kileys built by a Paramedic, and so many more all share the same theme. When you as a non-pro builder decide that nothing will stand in the way of what you know you MUST build, greatness will occure. Anyone who reads through some of the amazing build threads here will see more trial and error, and "fuck it, Ill give it a shot" happenening than one shot one kill action. These guys and gals dedicate themselves to what they feel their bike MUST be and will do anything to make it so. Thats the greatness you see.
Re: '75 CB550 - the "Le Mans Special" - she lost 90 lbs on her diet
Ah you guys. I feel bad I haven't been around much; just a consequence of the job. Can't wait till winter when I'm off! But to answer the question on experience......all rookie here. I partially built a half-assed bike last year, and redid a fiberglass seat for it. I also have a decent amount of welding experience too, but that's it. I'm just a Joe who wanted to build what he drunkenly drew on a piece of paper. That's all.
