Re: '75 CB550 - the "Le Mans Special" - she lost 90 lbs on her diet

Please do amigo, love to have you. And tell your lady that she's quite welcome.

Oh...and yer a bastard. That bike and that gorgeous woman?
Please at least tell me you look like Woody Allen or that other guy in Tenacious D

Re: '75 CB550 - the "Le Mans Special" - she lost 90 lbs on her diet

Thanks!

Haha, pretty much! I have no idea why a girl like her is hanging out with my ugly mug. Honestly I think the bike won her over... ;)

Re: '75 CB550 - the "Le Mans Special" - she lost 90 lbs on her diet

Keep me posted too. Maybe Heidi and I will make another trip to Portland before the snow............

Re: '75 CB550 - the "Le Mans Special" - she lost 90 lbs on her diet

RoseCityCafePunk138: I keep meaning to check your group out, Jordan (Valvesprung) has been on me about it.
Been thinking on an off about a low key 'open house/BBQ thing' at the shop, might be a good opener.

hijack over, thanks for your patience

Re: '75 CB550 - the "Le Mans Special" - she lost 90 lbs on her diet

Love the build, great colors, Good to see another Southern Oregonian on the site. Hit me up if your down in Ashland or Medford. I'd love to see the beast in the flesh

Re: '75 CB550 - the "Le Mans Special" - she lost 90 lbs on her diet

Will do, Lou. Looks like a couple weeks at least still. I'll know more soon.

joeficsit, the light came from Custom Dynamics, and yep, it's a dual LED strip.

Sonreir, BS! SOS is going to be quite the hottie. Post a pic or two of how it's all coming together! All these teaser pics of parts are not enough, I want to see a mock up!

...

The triple clamp from Durgam_K arrived today, so I threw it on for a pic. It looks so much better than the stock clamp, I'm speechless. Great work Kris!

I know Im about 7 months late on this question but where did you get the triple clamp done at? Is it aluminum? Was is pretty expensive or reasonable? where did you get the measurements from for it to fit?

Re: '75 CB550 - the "Le Mans Special" - she lost 90 lbs on her diet

Soooooio...... Chris. Are you still planning on tearing into this motor over winter?

Re: '75 CB550 - the "Le Mans Special" - she lost 90 lbs on her diet

Rich, after a summer of riding this bike, I've come up with a long list of things I need to change. Hopping up the engine is definitely on the list, but we'll see how much I can get done this winter, depending on finances. I'll start a new build thread when I get back up to Montana though...

'75 CB550 Gulf - round two

**REBUILD THREAD MERGED WITH ORIGINAL AT THIS POST**

I figured I better start a new thread for this iteration. 90 pages is hard enough to skim through anyways. Sooooooo, being that time of year again, I'm starting to feel the wrenching bug. I put about 2900 miles on the bike this summer, which gave me a good feel for what I still need to do (which is a lot). Budget and the fact that I'm no longer single have me a little worried about my ability to finish before summer again, but we'll take it little by little.

To do:
Brakes - dual stock discs, or something better if it's a simple adaptation.
More frame bracing!
Brace swing arm or replace with something better (monoshock?)
Alloy rims
Shorai battery
Fork brace
More weight loss
Engine refresh
Glass or cf front and rear fenders
And a fairing - full, I think...and carbon fiber?

There's probably some I forgot, but sitting here idly scratching my head is wasting my phone's battery. I did manage to come up with some photoshops of the fairing shape (not at all final). Let me know what yall think. Likes/dislikes/tweaks/changes...

Re: '75 CB550 Gulf - round two

That would look sweet with a full fairing. Are you going to make your own?

Re: '75 CB550 Gulf - round two

I am, sir. I figure I didn't quite learn my lesson with the tank and seat. :)

Re: '75 CB550 Gulf - round two

Ha I glanced at the photo and peed a little.. then I realized it was photochopped.. Then I peed a little more in anticipation.

Re: '75 CB550 Gulf - round two

Hahaha. Well, let's hope that's not the standard reaction...
