i ran it a bit up and down the street for a little bit in the rain, got sick of getting wet and called it a night. my buddy has a poor quality video of the sound of the bike. i'll post it when he sends it to me

next few things to be addressed are mounting of the tank. it will be up a bit in the back. and the rear portion of the frame will be chopped off and redone. i plan for it to swoop up a little bit and be a longer, due to the ninja swing arm being ~3" longer than stock. also need to fix the steering stop, i can use the stoppers on the lower triple, but the tab on the frame is too wide to have any sort of turing. more to come,,,, stay tuned!

Re: '76 cb360 cafe

I'm not. My buddy (Focusinprogress) is tho. You see the RS in the background? Lol

Re: '76 cb360 cafe

hahaha, my other guilt pleasure....ford focus's..... I'm S2inprogress on [FJ], I built the red RS replica....and this white one belongs to 1FocuesHokie, I'm finishing his build for him. and the blue one is Pirite's (Luke), he's our buddy.....I sold him/painted his euro bumpers, and we're building him a cb360.

Re: '76 cb360 cafe

did some messin around today with mounting the tank. the plan was to drop the front of the tank down about 1/2". i cut the old mounting tabs off. and drilled the hole where i planned to mount the new tabs. due to the difference in tunnel width of the 350 four tank to the frame, i made new tabs and holesawed out the old portion from the frame.

Re: '76 cb360 cafe

I about freaked when I first saw your plan to lower the tank.
I put a CL350 tank on my 360. at first I had it too low. Gas was getting too warm and caused bubbles to form in lines, enough to restrict flow. I raised the tank and added heat shielding to the underside. Which fixed the problem.

The distance yours is presently at is good. Plenty of air flow to keep things cool.

you did a super job moving mount and the tank sits great. the swing is very neat also, having the spring tucked down in there less visible like it is.

Re: '76 cb360 cafe

Thanks dude!

I should have been a little more specific referring to "lowering" the tank. It's more just lowering the mounting stud in the frame, and raising the rear mount location to get the tank to sit level to the bike.

As for the shock/swing arm, I'm pretty stoked on how it sits and it wasn't very hard to fit it to an old bike.

Re: '76 cb360 cafe

went to a place called Stanley Steel today to get some tubing for my sub frame. heres what i scooped up. it fit in the rabbit with room to spare! 103" of 1"ODx.120" wall tubing, got some 3/4" solid stock scraps for free.

5EE45813-9E91-4FF6-BE2C-F06B8B0FF391_zpsu8qm5wnm.jpg

then we messed around trying to figure out the gas heater not working/wiring issue. nick and derek got zapped a few times. i was smart enough to not touch wires with the unit plugged in hahaha. then on to chopping. rough chop for now. still have to do finial measurements.

then found out the ID of the frame was bigger than the 3/4" round stock i got. nick remembered we had some slugs from a hard tail kit kickin around. they were the correct OD to fit inside the frame. lathe time! this is the second time nick got to use his new lathe. the first was trimming the swing arm bushing to fit the frame.

Re: '76 cb360 cafe

Well I really liked the first incarnation of this bike 8) So I'm interested to see how the second evolves ;)

Re: '76 cb360 cafe

still have to do some grinding yet. but its all welded up. nick has more photos he will post them shortly. the old bungs for the rear sets will be cut off, and new location for them will be on the vertical part of the frame, which is how they should be mounted.

Re: '76 cb360 cafe

We will be adding gussets to the parts of the frame down where the new monoshock mounts are, but this seat subframe won't be getting any since all it needs to do is support the riders weight, there's no loading on these tubes besides rider.

Re: '76 cb360 cafe:ROUND 2!

While checko was in Baltimore this weekend I worked on his bike a bit when I was waiting for a few people to come by the shop for various things.

Flap-wheeled the whole subframe for him, came out pretty awesome. He doesn't know it yet but I also broke down and rebuilt his rear monoshock for his dirtbike project too....which btw was a monstrous pain in the ass!!!!

Re: '76 cb360 cafe:ROUND 2!

got a new (to me) DSLR camera from my uncle. Nikon D70. Ive never used one before, I've only really used an old minolta 35mm camera. this is a whole new ball game to me, but ill get the hang of it.

heres a few pics i took today before starting on the seat forming.

DSC_8497_zps82ac6127.jpg

heres a few of the beginning of the seat. picked up some 1.5" high density foam, and started cutting/shaping. It still needs to be narrowed from the front of the seat hump to the rear. we glued 3 layers together and put 4 dowels to keep them aligned and thru the cardboard to keep it lined up with the frame.

Re: '76 cb360 cafe:ROUND 2!

been busy lately with a few other projects. got back to this for a little bit tonight, a bit more shaping of the rear seat section. I first removed the top layer of foam because i didn't like the slant of it. I re-glued a fresh piece on top and started shaping again. its a little taller, and slants down farther. I also narrowed the sides. then Derek started dremeling out the recess for the R6 tail light. We decided to mount it upside down to fit the shape of the rear section of the tail. it still needs a coat of filler and a finish sand. the tail light will be molded smooth to flow with the tail. a few cell pics
