Re: 76 CB360, I think my bike is finished.

Finally, got my Best freind Greg to stay over a couple nights to fix my crap assed welds. Dude works for beer and crappy conversation. I sandblasted the pipes and kick starter.

Solved exhaust leaks w this cheap clamp. tightened and rotated it around the muffler until I got a real nice crimp. Need to order Mydlyfs cheap but nice heavy duty stainless clamps for finish.

epoxied and reassembled and installed the kick starter. Pipes all done but the finishing...heat shields and clamps, They fit so tight I had to tap em together w the rubber mallet. I could ride this thing if the weather warms up a bit.

I think I went and accidentally got this bike "finished" and by finished I mean done.

Maybe rehash rear set location and rear brake function. But, this bike is done. Im kind of in shock right now. Been 2 1/2 years on her.

Thanks bud, but this one is it. the one and only I will ever have.

Re: 76 CB360, I think my bike is finished.

Glad to see it's finished trek. It's a cool bike. I've been on the forum for a long while and have seen a lot of the bikes growth. I have a good feeling you aren't a guy who won't do this again. I've said that a lot and every season I seem to end up with something different.

Re: 76 CB360, I think my bike is finished.

I was really trying hard not to get "burnt out" on this project. I have a life long habit of getting into a project and going and going until I am so burnt out I hate it.
So, with this bike I worked on breaking those habits. Sure as with everybody, I pushed my love of hate to the very edge many times. But not so much too HATRED.
I did this building rifles. I built three flintlock rifles. pretty much from blanks. by the time I was done...I swore I would never ever do another...and I still feel that way today. Too bad cause I LOVED building guns.

I love this bike now as much as I did when my brother dropped her in my driveway. So, now its just time to enjoy it until she breaks down again, then I will be excited to turn a wrench.

heres some random build shots of the 3 rifles I built if your interested.

Damn man, that looks great! I hope you get some nice days to put some miles on - we gotta have some running 360s to represent the rest of us with garage queens ;D

Thanks dude. Glad you like it. that means alot too me.
Yep I am excited to see all you guys again. since I passed on barber this fall.

Re: 76 CB360, I think my bike is finished.

Shit, it's easy to like - and I know how much fun it's been for you to get it on the road.

But since I'm blowing smoke - nice work on the butt of that rifle stock. Did you get the brass ends or make those too?

I buy them as very rough sand castings. then I have to do all the cutting, file, sanding, polish work. It takes a very long time to build a gun. For my daughters small 3/4 scale 45 caliber long gun near the top. I had to buy a full size and cut, form and shape it to 3/4 size...nightmare. Along w everything else on that small one matches my full size 62 caliber exactly. I used a fine Jim Chambers pistol lock that matches my full size Jim Chambers rifle lock...so they are identical in every detail.

Re: 76 CB360, I think my bike is finished.

I had both barrels custom made by Ed Rayl in West virginia. He said the .45 for the girls gun was the smallest flintlock barrel he ever made. 45. cal, 31 inches long, swamped octagon, he rifled the barrel by hand w round bottom grooves for easier cleaning. I PAID extra for that! most Machine rifled barrels normally have square bottom grooves. you can look at the guns you got to see.

PS never look down the barrel of any gun!

Man, good looking work with those guns! I bet it was great harvesting a deer with something you built from the ground up too!

thanks dude. They are a ton of fun to shoot and hunt with. But a bitch to clean. Bagged a bunch of whitetails with them over the past 10 or so years. Last year I got a new Thompson Center, Bone Collector, 50 cal muzzle loader. Its easy to clean. Though not as exciting to shoot.

Just read the thread and holy hell that was quite the build. It has got to feel good to call something actually "done"
