Re: 76 CB360, Custom exhaust, Making room for rear sets.
Early this morning I raised both set levers up a notch, and tweaked in the rear brake travel. That should improve things somewhat.
Its 48 degrees now, so the test run will have to wait til after the sun comes up for a while.
Here's the CB360 Frame (Hope you didn't cut the stop tab off...and a CL360 Centerstand...The stop is circled.... The stop is adjustable, and I also put a piece of rubber (Rubber on bolt was missing on mine) to quiet it down so it didn't clang on large bumps...

"Found" a couple pieces of stainless, just the right size for heat shields, much thinner than the aluminum. Yet not so thin as to be easily bent. However, even though it may not be the best. The leather is working amazingly well. After a decent ride. I can still grab and hold onto the leather w bare hand. Warm but far from too hot. And the appearance is really growing on me. I imagine it may start to crack over time. But, not like I ride 100 miles daily.
The fuel line heat sleeve arrived today. Along w the pipe wrap.
cut the cable stop from the old front hub. I dont know if it is usable or just make a new one from scratch.
I think I may just try to find a 7 inch length of 5/8" rod and just install the center stand when needed.
Re: 76 CB360, Custom exhaust, Making room for rear sets.
Rode about 15 miles at 70mph over to make a vid w Bromz riding his CJ360.
Broke one of my crappy welds on the muffler bracket.
after spending a bit of time and getting accustomed to the sets...The location may be growing on me. But, I still think a bit forward and lower would be better.
Also, raised the toe peg a bit, the brake is a little better also, far from ideal though.
The leather wrap I used to protect my legs...It burst into flames...NOT one of my better ideas. .LOL The old lady ran and got a pail of water for me.
Re: 76 CB360, Custom exhaust, Making room for rear sets.
Here's what I did with existing Honda parts:
The cable stops are clutch cable stops from a CB100/125.
The brake cable is from an XL250/350. I looped it temporarily but it can be shortened. I'll do the same for my CB350 project. Too bad I can't just swap the brake plates. The XL is a 140mm and the CB is a 160mm.
Cool discussion on that board about building one from a combination of front and rear brake parts.
Re: 76 CB360, Custom exhaust, Making room for rear sets.
Oooo That is cool. thanks for the info bud.
The cable setup can not be any worse than the pivot and rod..thats for sure.
You guys are certainly doing your best to pop my bubble. I sat staring at this thing for a long time...and thought the whole cable idea was my own invention.
Re: 76 CB360, Custom exhaust, Making room for rear sets.
Somewhat inspired using clutch cable mounts, now it's been mentioned I remember there are various different shapes on different bikes, CB400t CB550, CB100, etc
Re: 76 CB360, Custom exhaust, Making room for rear sets.
One advantage of a cable is that it is not affected by suspension movement. The rod will slightly move when rear suspension is compressed. You can verify this by resting your foot on the lever and ride over a bunch of small bumps to compress the rear. The lever may move in sync. Or remove the shocks and just move the swingarm up & down. The cable is not affected by this at all. Plus, if the rod has any bend at all, it will flex. The cable will stretch very little.
Re: 76 CB360, Custom exhaust, Making room for rear sets.
I needed to space the sets out further. however, I didnt want to screw up the nice straight linkage connections, or bend dog legs in the rods. These Italian tarozzi pegs are already too short, for my american feet. I Asked PJ to make a couple extensions for pegs. and viola! Arrived in the mail yesterday.
Now I dont have to hug the pipes, so snuggly. They are out almost as wide as the stock pegs were.
froze the plugs and warmed the pegs w heat gun. They tapped in snug w hammer and block.
They will never fall out. plus I will drill and tap a small set screw on underside.
Re: 76 CB360, Custom exhaust, Making room for rear sets.
Wish I'd had a footrest, could have made them fit 'nicer' and slightly smaller diameter
Should have let me knurl them if your not sliding rubber further out
