82 KZ750 LTD Brat Style Build **UPDATED**

Re: 82 KZ750 LTD Brat Style Build - First Timer

Hey mate awesome project! I must say I honestly love the look of the tank when it was sanded down and sheet seat tray balanced with the black exhaust. Both complemented the stance of the bike and with that black painted engine in with polished fins and bolts, it would give a cool rat rod modern appeal.. = sexy brat.

Just a thought ;)

Thanks for sharing mate.

Lots of info on the Web under "minimum wiring diagrams" but most have eliminated the turn signals. If your wiring harness is still good you might want to just think of some upgrades - improved reg/rec, electronic flasher, clean/lube all connectors and switches. This will support your new battery and LED turn signals. If your current wiring harness is shot, then you might just want to get a good/used harness rather than wiring-up your own from scratch.

Re: 82 KZ750 LTD Brat Style Build - First Timer

So I ended up ordering an FH008EE MOSFET Regulator used in the CBR600RR for $50. Along with DOCROCs suggestion, I read on a few other forums it's the go-to RR upgrade.

Put a good 50-60 miles on it this weekend. Felt great to be riding, i will be posting a list on modifications and good pictures when my seat and fender are finished.

Congrats. I spent half the day making my throttle cable too short. Luckily I have enough cable to make a new one.

Housing is perfect too. No kinks or binds. Just 1 3/4 too short somehow

Fender or no fender? Paint it black?

Re: 82 KZ750 LTD Brat Style Build - First Timer

Fender looks good. Goes well with the shine of your for tubes and brake disc. Can you lower it a bit closer to the tire? Might look a bit more streamlined. Just a thought.

Re: 82 KZ750 LTD Brat Style Build - First Timer

I guess "brat" bikes are supposed to have a certain look, but I much preferred this particular fender before it was bobbed. Not the rear one, just the front. It would have looked real good painted to match the tank. I think I have an OEM fender for the leading-axle KZs if you want to try again.

I appreciate the feedback but IMO these front fenders are some of the ugliest that come on any motorcycle of this era. They sit high above the tire, have low sides and are a very weird shape. I much prefer the gs, xs and cb fenders to that of the kz.

nice build man! i love all the black! and what a cute little fender you got there xD

Re: 82 KZ750 LTD Brat Style Build - First Timer

Have you thought of finding some different forks? I know you thought about lowering internally but those tubes seem soooooo long. Bringing the front down would make it look a little better.

Re: 82 KZ750 LTD Brat Style Build - First Timer

I have some spare Kz650 B model forks. They are in great shape and if I remember correctly they are shorter. They arent leading axle forks either.

To each his own; it's your bike. I just keep thinking about the Spectre version that had the black-painted front fender to match the tank. I thought that was a real nice look (again, not so much the OEM seat/tail). So if the choices are none, chrome/painted bobbed - I'll vote for matte black paint to blend into the look of the tire while still providing somewhat of a fork brace. I've seen this on other bikes and it looks better to my eyes.
RE: fender height - you could elongate the mounting holes to lower the fender if there is no sidewall interference.
