Re: 89 cbr600 Baby Fighter!

I'm set on the vrod headlight. It just looks so good, but it's freaking rare! Amazon sells replicas but there are no pictures available!

Re: 89 cbr600 Baby Fighter!

Changing tires is a bitch!! YouTube makes it look so easy!

Anyway, my friend and I were able to remove the rear tire. We're having trouble mounting the new tire towards the end because the rubber is hella stubborn. We only have two tire irons right now but I'm going to buy a couple more. Maybe that'll help.

Till next time!

Re: 89 cbr600 Baby Fighter!

I found a vrod headlight on eBay going for $60 right now and 3 days left! Hopefully it won't get too expensive so I can snag it up!

Other than that, tire mounting resumes today. Wish me luck!!

Re: 89 cbr600 Baby Fighter!

Time to vent: I will never change a motorcycle tire again. I'm giving up. I already spent too much time and money trying to get that rear bitch ass tire on. The bead started ripping in several places and I've just had enough. I guess there are some things we can't do. Piece of shit tires.

Re: 89 cbr600 Baby Fighter!

Yup. Sometimes you gotta know when to quit and pay to have things done properly and quickly. I know there are purists out there who insist on doing these things themselves, and have the tools to do it (changing tires is 1/2 the job - then you need to balance the wheel), but I'm not one of them :)

For my $20 I'll pay a shop to mount my tires and balance the wheel.

Re: 89 cbr600 Baby Fighter!

Ah that sucks, They are a bitch though. The tube type tires aren't too bad to change and balance but the modern sport tires like yours, real pain. No shame in this.

Re: 89 cbr600 Baby Fighter!

i have never changed my own tires, never will.. looks around man you can find deals, i pay about a 1/8 of what people normally do. I also bring in about 5 sets of wheels a week to have rubber removed or installed, if you where close i would say just give them to me, ill get them on. check craigslist though, i got buddies in colorado that have a guy do it out of his garage, balanced and all for 40 bucks a set, thats cheap man!

Just watched this the other day:

Might give it a try on the GS ???

Re: 89 cbr600 Baby Fighter!

do you think if he would have gotten a thicker bag it wouldn't have been ripping so much? lol. or did he stress thinnest bag 9x for a reason?

Well, the tolerances are pretty tight, so the thinner the better I guess ;) And really, who cares if you don't get all the bag out?

Also not sure if the "slipperyness" of the bag is enhanced by it being doubled up (IE unopened), or if it's just the texture of the plastic that makes it work ???

Re: 89 cbr600 Baby Fighter!

this build came together real quick. the tank looks great. i would throw some accent on the wheels or some where on the frame to help with all the black. it looks good and it looks fun to ride. keep it up. when is the next show your djing?

Re: 89 cbr600 Baby Fighter!

So more work went into the fighter for the past couple of days. I painted my rims gold and got the new tires mounted! I used dyna beads which surprising works well! The ride is a lot smoother and a lot more responsive. Too it's raining this whole week in CA. That means I'll be riding next week. CAN'T WAIT!

PICTURES!

The rims with tires removed.

Rear rim painted with Rustoleum metallic "Gold Rush" then cleared with a 2 part clear.

Here are the front rotors taped up to get a couple coats of appliance epoxy. I don't have a finished picture of it except of it on the bike.

And the final product! I think the gold really makes a difference with the appearance! And look at the meat on that rear tire! I really want a bellypan on this thing.

Re: 89 cbr600 Baby Fighter!

Slick!!!!!

I, for one, like the headlight.

Bellypan would complete your build...
