Re: 1994 BMW K75 RT police "Clair build" still wont start imiss kickstarters
The ECU connection is a notorious Achilles heel - as are the multi plug connectors that go into the instrument panel. Give them both a good spray with switch cleaner. Three of my bikes actually had green mould growing on the connectors !
I had a similar situation with one of my builds - only I did NOTHING to the bike that involved electrics ! Just left it for a week or two. The culprit? The ECU itself had gone bad. Replaced the ECU - cracked up first time. No. I don't understand it either !
Not sure that's entirely correct. I hall effect sensor is only used to determine crank (or cam) position. Doesn't have too much to do with heat. That said, I think if that sensor were out, you wouldn't get spark at all.
Re: 1994 BMW K75 RT police "Clair build" still wont start imiss kickstarters
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to everyone who offered assistance.
Finally got it running. One of the pins on the fuel pump connector was a a bit pushed in. Also one of my new spark plugs was bad. I checked all of them today after being so frustrated and turned out one barely sparked. I did notice as well that my ecu had welded to the fork and a cable i pulled was very near so I think it was jumping and shorting it out. So new plug, tie off the cables and tape, THEN off she goes. I have never ridden a cafe before today. Hugging the gas tank elbows in, and head in a tuck (although my big ass speedo adds as a wind block). I know it may sound weird but I felt tingles and chills. Never been that low to the ground pulling through the traffic. Bike is looking gorgeous although I still have a bit to go but the big part is over. Now its just metal bending, cutting and affixing. Still waiting on my magazi mirrors to come in also.
Re: 1994 BMW K75 RT police "Clair build" running like a champ and new PICS
Something like this would look good on there http://www.dimecitycycles.com/vintage-cafe-racer-caferacer-bobber-brat-chopper-custom-motorcycle-electronic-parts-mini-black-acewell-2853-digital-motorcycle-speedo-speedometer-tach-tachometer-19-3962.html
Re: 1994 BMW K75 RT police "Clair build" running like a champ and new PICS
I would love that. Ill probably go with something similar. looking at koso or acewell. Id say my budget for speedo is around 200 to 240 and thats including the Harley speed sensor ill have to buy and machine because of course BMW speed sensors just have to be different.
Just got my Magazi Mirrors in today, looking gnarly.
Re: 1994 BMW K75 RT police "Clair build" running like a champ and new PICS
Just sold my crashbars so it just so happens I will be getting a tachometer. Anyone with ideas for a speedo send em this way!
Will be machining a three wire harley speed sensor so I believe most newer speedometers are compatible. I would like tachometer rather than speedo, idiot lights and anything else is just gravy. Side panels getting done tomorrow and may start work on floating fender, it will be alluminum and mount from the bottom shock peg coming and have a nice little fender almost on the surface of the rear of the rear tire.
Re: 1994 BMW K75 RT police "Clair build" running like a champ and new PICS
Like what? I know Ill need a set of relays that I have the diagrams for to start the bike in neutral.
I dont think you can get the fuel gauge on any aftermarket gauge to work with the stock fuel level sensor. that's what i've heard, Im going to test that.
Im also thinking about using the police compartment on the top of my gas tank to house my ignition and gauges ill just have to make a bracket.
Re: 1994 BMW K75 RT police "Clair" build suggestions and ideas welcome

Re: 1994 BMW K75 RT police "Clair" CRASHED!! back on the road. "UPS CHRISTMAS" PICS
Now comes the hard part, exhaust mods, electronics wiring, mounting, gas tank strip and paint, new tires, rear fender fabrication, bracket fabrication, .50 cal ammo can mounting, and waiting on those slow shippers in japan to get the rest here. No with all this italian and asian stuff I am not a purist.
Re: 1994 BMW K75 RT police "Clair" Throttle finished, pieces all coming together
Throttle is finally done, (serious work needed to be done to fit grips on slide)
All pieces now ready for installation. Then exhaust, fender and gas tank replacement or fabrication and then tear down for clean and paint.
