CB350 Built by a teen (Weld Now, Grind Later)

Re: CB350 Built by a teen (Picture Heavy!!)

ok fine... ghetto laced rim is off.

anyone know where i can get a matching set of shouldered rims that dont cost as much as buchanan?

-pj... i already sold my 350 wheel... i now have a 450 wheel and 500t forks.

Re: CB350 Built by a teen (Picture Heavy!!)

It would be much easier/cheaper to get a 350 hub and XS rim and fit it into 500t forks.
Should be able to pick up a hub with rusty rim/spokes for $10.00 or less.
Even if it was $30~$50 it will still be a lot 'lighter' than Buchanan rim and spokes (probably $300.00?)
You can then get rid of 450 wheel (which probably isn't worth a lot, even I have one lying around)
BTW, its a real good idea to fit a strut same length as compressed shock then fit wheel (with tyre) and check you have at least 1/2" clearance or you could end up doing some unintentional frame mods later ( take a look at Troybuilt, about halfway down page)

Im ahead of you on that one! my dad pointed it out to me while i was throwing around ideas.

The whole entire point of me getting the 450 wheel was so that i can run a disk front end. What im getting out of this is that im pretty much fucked and need to get buchanan if i want to keep the disk front end (40 hole hub) and have shouldered alloys?

Re: CB350 Built by a teen (Picture Heavy!!)

late model CB350, CB360, CB350f or 400f all use 'same' disc wheel/hub and its 36hole

;D ;D

so let me get this right... if i get a hub from a late cb350, 360 or 350 or 400f, its essentially a 450 hub but with 36 holes instead of 40? Can i use the stock cb500t caliper and mount? is the axle size the same? what mods will need to be done?

*starts search for one of those hubs...*

anyone want to trade for a 450 wheel? ;)

Re: CB350 Built by a teen (Picture Heavy!!)

Its a different hub, 4 bolt rotor instead of 6 bolt.
Not sure about axle diameter but you could change bearings if needed

looks good... i messaged bike bone yard seeing if they had anything... ebay has some wheels but most are without the rotor.

Re: CB350 Built by a teen (Picture Heavy!!)

If you want/need I can get a 350F front end. I think the last time I was at the moto-salvage they wanted 50 or 75, but it was all there except the fork ears. Then how ever much to ship it. Could be more, but the bike has been inside for 10 years. most of the parts are in good-decent shape.

Let me know.

i really dont want to have another front end... just the wheel. I have a deal going with another member... if you could maybe get me just that front wheel and for a way cheaper price, ill be interested just in case this deal falls through.

Re: CB350 Built by a teen (Picture Heavy!!)

Rocan means hub and brake rotor although if the spokes are good it will save some cash re-using them

exactly, but with the rotor and axle (unless if the 450 axle fits in it, but id rather have the stock axle just in case)

See how it works!

see how what works? xD

after going over the color scheme in my mind, this is what its going to be.

Black is the primary color, white pinstriping on the tank and seat with a silver line between the two colors to break it up. most everything is polished... wheels, motor, forks etc. cylinders are getting black fins with polished edges (NO COPYING TILL ITS DONE! ;) ;))

will get pics when the parts come in. soon ill be getting myself a sandblaster to get the frame done. i have a full spray kit including new hoses and gun thanks to my dad last christmas (come to think of it hes been talking about painting his bike too... that shmuck ;D ;D)

lets hope i get saturday free to work!

Rocan, I haven't chimed at all on this, but your build is probably the first I've followed since signing on to DTT. Very creative and knowledgable stuff. And I'm not gonna bust balls about your age - I'm actually kinda jealous that you got a 10 year headstart on bike building!

Keep it up man, can't wait to see it rollin

thanks a bunch man! means a lot. no updates lately. a bit at a loss on what to work on right now. dont have a sandblaster yet so the frames off, i could polish the other side of the engine case but id rather do that while the cylinders get sent out to be bored so that i can just assemble everything in one go. i have no money left in my paypal, so i cant order any more stuff. brake caliper is rebuilt and just has to be polished. i cant order a line yet since i dont know how long ill need it. would love to start on fiberglassing, but again, no supplies.

seems i fucked up and bought a bunch of goodies but forgot to buy something that i can work on :D :D

Re: CB350 Built by a teen (Getting near a rolling chassis!!!)

HAHAH!! You'll have forks to polish soon enough!
