Re: CJ250T - CeeJay - First time builder...(deus ex machina build off 27th Nov)
Swingarm got bungs in the necessary holes. So all good there.
Yeah the brake rotor is completely coated. It was pretty shiny so I had planned on getting it machined anyways...
Brake caliper is on outside surface only. High heat tape was used on the inner side.
Bearings are in the freezer currently, so should be getting those all in soon. (can't wait for the other half to see bike parts in the freezer... LOL) :-X

All good. High temp tape over the whole stem... you might be able to see the green around the top of the stem...
About to attempt the bottom bearing today so fingers crossed. Had to get the 4mm spacer as I only ended up with the just the bearings. Got that this morn, so all is a goer!
Re: CJ250T - CeeJay - First time builder...(deus ex machina build off 27th Nov)
you will be fine man i do the same thing on trees i coat, have done well over 300 of them with 0 problems... have had people try to press out the stems and just destroy trees... no reason to...
as long as the lower race is clean man it is all good...
little tip, put that sucker in the freezer (lower tree) for about 2 hours prior to the bearing, get some thick walled PVC that is about the same size as the stem (so it sits on the inner race of the bearing) then use a rubber mallet to pop that sucker on... be sure you put a towel down to protect your lower tree.. works like a charm. i have also used a bit of grease to help it slide but not nessassary... DO NOT FORGET THE DUST SHIELD, i can not tell you how many lower bearings i have installed and forgot to have that on there first! ha ha ha
Re: CJ250T - CeeJay - First time builder...(deus ex machina build off 27th Nov)
oh and the washer too... the amount of people you hear of leaving the washer off and then ruining their bearings getting it off again to get them on... whoopsy...
Re: CJ250T - CeeJay - First time builder...(deus ex machina build off 27th Nov)
I imagine dust seal AFTER the washer to keep the seal right up to the bearing. You might want to eyeball it first before you put the bearing on the stem.

Thanks fellas. So many people gave me shit about the paint scheme, and then once it was done people couldn't stop looking at it... I am really happy with it.

People are always skeptical of the things which are gonna be different and often they come out to be the most interesting and coolest. Sometimes they come out crappy but more often than not they end up like your paint. It's a cool combination of vintage and modern.

Clutch and throttle cables. I have some universal cables that I bought today, and my jeweller is going to hook me up with some silver solder so I was just probing to see if anyone had some guides or advice to the pitfalls and successes in making you own... (mine are full of knicks and are binding pretty bad...)
Re: CJ250T - CeeJay - First time builder...(deus ex machina build off 27th Nov)
I use bicycle brake cables for throttle cables - they're cheaper than bike stuff (you'll pick them up from KMart for $4 each), and they're strong enough....and already have one end soldered on You'll need something heavier for clutch / brake cables though.
Soldering the ends on can be tricky - and a bit hit and miss if you don't solder a lot. Might be best to track down some screw on nibs if you're not too skilled with the solder.
