Honda CB200 74' cafe/brat Australia

Yikes!! An unexpected knock on the door this morning saw the delivery of my stainless spokes, black nipples and my seat!

Its such a tease but at the same time a wake-up to get my things sorted and get the rims to the de-chromers and other parts to the powdercoaters.

Whilst I see the bike styling towards cafe this is also a bike I want to share riding with my wife hence the brattish style seat.

I dont think I will need to modify the frame but a general clean up around the rear will be made. The trajectory with the seat from the tank and along the frame flows right through to the tail so that was nice reassurance once I got it to where I think I will mount it.

Plan is to have a tyreless semi-rolling chassis my Christmas, optimism usually gets the better of me!

Who upholstered your seat! It is awesome!!!

I got it off Ebay from an importer. They are only $199AU. It is made to fit a SR400 but measurements where similar.

I am very happy with it and its build quality.

Subscribed. Think the tank looks great raw.

Thanks Erskine. I was thinking of raw but unfortantly i have already fillered the tank and thats the good side of the tank!! But hopefully my overall vision for the tank should look as good.

Hi mate, like the build so far. I'm down in Sydney doing something similar. Will be keeping tabs on your progress. Cheers

Bike looks like the same condition of your TS185, another saved from the brink! Thread looks great. I think next build im going to try a tracker/thumper!

Looks nice mate, keen to watch this progress (and likely steal some ideas)

keep at it!

Cheers Beardo. Slowly getting there. Let us know what your rocking out also.

My bike definitely was on the brink. It's taking some convincing for it to come down off the ledge and not jump. Haha.

Christmas has shrunk the wallet and having to bite time with what I have already got to progress on the build. Instead I thought I would prime the tank which I think looks reasonable.

Once I order the exhaust's and work out where they will sit along with the indicators its motor out and off to the blasters, chromers and coaters. I have two weeks off so fingers crossed I can get a little further through.

Goodluck with Christmas everybody!

Thanks Boosted.

Has been slow progress due to some life events but im waiting for the spray shop to fit me in next week then its a matter of commencing the rebuild! Besides parts arriving in the mail I have not progressed any further then the last post :)

Life events have gotten the better of me but I know when dealing with the stress of such events, two hands touching my motorcycle is enough to forget for a moment of the outside world.

I've been in contact with my local motorcycle sprayer. With regular visits to discuss cleaning up the frame and additions i.e battery box, indicator and seat mounts. Below are the parts before they head off to him!

Moving forward. Finally managed to get the parts to my local guy on the Gold Coast @ PopBang Classics in Currumbin and picked them up today. I had the tank re-primed with better quality primer x3 coats. It is now ready to have its final coats when i decide what colour I wish to choose. The frame has been cleaned up with holes filled and anything not necessary removed.

Justin has been super helpful in mounting the seat and adding a simple yet effective battery compartment.

To finish off, a mix between spray and powder coating. I am very pleased with the results and now looking forward to piecing the bike back together.

how to screen capture

Time to lace the wheels and rubber added. Once rolling, time will be spent on an engine inspect, replacing all seals and bolts. More pictures to come!

Luke this is looking great! If you get a second, can you throw up some pictures of how you placed that battery tray in there to weld up? I.e some more pics of the pan area would be awesome. Personal interest :)
