New Jersey sr500 tracker/scrambler

Never mind the fairy. god. mother.

Never blame bad welds on lack of gas. If you can't flux weld correctly you can't MIG weld correctly. Anyone that days otherwise welds for shit and their mig welds are probably junk. Just cuz it looks nicer doesn't mean it functions correctly. I thought we already covered that

As someone who has welded as a profession... Buy the gas... flux core is a great tool for welding outside and for the quick fix, truth is the shielding gas allows for a much cleaner weld with far better penetration.

My welding skills are not in the world of highly skilled nuclear plants or steam pipe fitting but in this world of automotive welding I can offer some decent advice.

2 years welding exhaust in a factory, installation and setup of robot welders, pipe benders and end op machines

3 years of winters in Kawasaki Lincoln welding every motorcycle part made, overhead tig welding inside double decker subway cars, tig welding stainless hand rail.

1 winter welding heavy equipment up to 40 pass covers on big machines

Buy the 80 cf tank of c-25 and be happy :-X

The gas comment was because the spatter! as long as the welds are strong I don't mind them being a little cosmetically challenged. Right now they are in the ugly duckling stage of life, soon though they will blossom into the stacked coins that they shud be!

Ill be picking it up this weekend because its pay day! but ill probably use up all the flux cored wire to practice....gotta slow down my spending supposed to be getting a new Jeep!

The claim that mig gives better penetration than flux cored is 100% false.

Depends on the conditions, when you get certified let us know... flux core is fine, but better for an experienced welder.

You will come at me all you can, I can see that so I will not post in this thread again.

God damn you are juvenile.

Im not coming after anyone, just stating the WELL KNOWN FACT that flux cored welding provides better penetration at any amperage. It's a thing called current density.

^ Fun hater.

No argument here. Flux cored welding penetrates better at any given amperage. It's not debateable, it's science.

Just some shitty flux cored welding ::)

Get the bottle, don't get the Jeep- yet. Big changes are on the horizon for Jeep. Either wait until this Fall or buy a two year old one.

I'm building a welding cart today out of the random bed frames in my basement so ill adjust my angle and get some practice in! ill post pics cause i know people like pics ;) nice welds 8)

Told you guys I keep it moist down here ;) basement gets water in through cracks but nothing too bad dump takes care of it

Took my forks apart had to hammer out a hex key because I didn't have an adapter for 1/4 to 1/2

Used some
Extensions but only the longest one was really needed

Stuck the Allen key in a vise to be a helping hand and just unscrewed from the inside with the ratchet

gotta get some oil and figure out what springs and spacers I need to put back in becausr I'm putting in new progressive springs and I want the front to be an inch or two lower the progressives are longer than stock

Can I wire wheel these things and paint em?

And I guess I need a smaller belt to raise the rpms on this thing :/ that's a pain in the ass might have to find some treadmill motors! ???

Ha! I'll pay that as funny...

Dude - have you got the power lead for your drill press running between the pullies??

everything was just laid around wasn't using it because the speed was slow and the scotch brite ball kept spinning because I couldn't tighten the screw on the arbor/shank/thing holding the ball that then goes in the chuck... I usually plug it in and hang the cord from something out of the way my outlets are all on the roof
