New Jersey sr500 tracker/scrambler

ebay time

found out what those little nubs are... mikuni float retainer caps! and they are about 5$!!! I think that's four dollars too much...

going to order some smaller main jets from 280 down it was rich and fouled plugs at 300 I never had a 290 to try so I skipped down to the 280 but never tested it.

new pilots, it was hard to start and I didn't have to use the choke so im thinking it was too rich at what ever it was (I think 30) I have a 17.5 in there now so ill pick up a 20 and 25

crank case breather filter

probably some other random things that I need to order too...

don't worry I used a mixture of sand and grease and lubed every passage possible right after I took all the pics! ;D :p

it was running rich and hard to start before I tore it apart and I don't have any test riding in the near future so I want to get this thing squared away.

throw those little deals in a cup in the microwave boil the weater they should snap right back on
the post is barbed and them deals are formed to snap on a grab tighter nnnn...

ill definitely do the microwave and save the 5 bucks thanks for the tip! I was trying to force them on until I realized I was probably going to break the post or get the barbed end stuck in my finger

Microwaved the cap that I had worked great! Lost the other cap currently searching... Found!!!!

Float set ::) ;D

I have a couple left over gaskets and a big o ring not sure if extra or I'm screwing up

Other than that carbs clean and ready to go!! ;D

Found the old pilot and it looks like it was a damn 40!?? Wtf

Why don't you make some cardboard templates from the loop in order to have the pieces welded look good.

Instead of welding a big ass piece that don't match and then trim it

Cleaned, organized, went and got my welding helmet and it doesn't work :( gotta bring it back to harbor freight....used some little green goggles because I was impatient that combined with my lack of welding skills created a job for my grinder.... Seat mount holes wil be drilled tomorrow... I gotta add trim to the edge and foam this thing next...

Gotta pick some colors any opinions?

I didn't line the brackets up I just stuck the welding clamp on to give an idea of what it would look like to you guys... I usually do the cardboard trace for things ;D

Saw all those bikes at the 1 moto show last weekend. Some real good ones. Color is so much based on personal preference it's hard to make suggestions. What are you leaning towards?

honestly im all over the place, I like the look of the black wheels because they really stand out and look badass but gold is unique and white looks kick ass too but more of a classic look I think...

some old school Yamaha color would be cool with gold or white rims I don't think black is in any of those color schemes...

I am jealous you got to see all those bikes  ;D

I see the welding issue (maybe) I have that same welder, get the Argon bottle as soon as you can, but for now crank it up to one notch below full power, set the wire speed two down from fastest setting. when the welder is cold, always cut a fresh start in the flux core wire about 3/16 to 1/4" from tip keep the wire as close to the weld pool as that 1/2" as you can and stir the wire in the weld pool just a little, I go in counter clockwise motion... Get some scrap and practice, then get some tube and practice with that. You can also buy a jar of anti spatter or spay can to keep the bb's off.

Same welder same sheet metal, with gas.

very nice welds! ill play with the settings like you suggested. those goggles are definitely not for mig welding lol my eyes are killing me and my face is burned. :-\

Those green ones? those are for gas welding with a torch not arc welding. Better just let your eyes rest a while man.

Gotta get some gas for this thing!
