Found this at Menard's. It's a fairly dense foam, 14.25" X 13.25" and 1.5". I'm thinking it is going to be a pretty good base for a seat pad. If not it will have been a $4.99 experiment.

That should make a great seat. I used a similar foam and could ride 8+ hours with minimal stops and almost no sore but

big mistake putting heavier wheels and tires on a lil 100 you will jus make it a lot slower than it already is

Thanks for that tip.......already rethought it, and changed my mind, just didn't post it.

Final pieces of the off-grid puzzle. Wired it up for 9 panels, but doing it in 3 panel phases to see just how many I might actually need. Hoping to stick with 3 for now.

That's awesome. The Mrs and I are hoping to start on that later next year.

Cool..........I like that. Is that a kit or something that you can buy?

Is it a DIY thing?

Did you have it professionally installed?

You can definitely buy all the parts and DIY and there are preconfigured kits out there. I spec'd mine out with a local guy and paid him to install it all. He charged me less for the components than I could have gotten them for and the total installation was about $800 in labor. It has been close to 3 full days of work in two stages, and its way neater than I would have managed.

Recently purchased this xs400. Was wanting another Honda but this bike will get me by. Plans for another cafe build in the near future.

One of these years I'll post up a load of metal stock before I cut it all up.

When I go to the metal supply, I am more drawn to the drop bins than all of the nice fresh stock... digging through and finding useful sizes for scrap + is like a treasure hunt ???

Same here, but sometimes when I need 12' of something in a certain length it's more cost effective to buy whole and not fiddle with 5 different diameters.

I know that feeling, soon as it gets in the shop, it's in the saw. I cut up 70' of 1" round this morning, have 70' of angle iron on the way. Saw is set up and waiting for it to walk in the door.

'59 Fargo. Good doors and a hood, so some good stuff to donate to the wagon. All for 100 bucks :)

Been wanting one of these for ages. 1986 GL 1200 Aspencade. The deal finally went down on Saturday and I had it up and running on Sunday. I'm stoked.

Digging that Wing, not a bad year after the changes in 84-85.

I get to ride a 1990 GL1500 next time I mow(side job). Boss/family friend has one. Keeps telling me to take it out. Also said next time his '70 GTO isn't blocked in the garage, I can drive that too!

Good to have good friends.

Got this 350F last week. Factory paint still on fasteners, low miles, missing tank and a side cover. Exhaust might work with some patches...

Got this CB160 today. Comes looks shabby but it's in good shape, rust is surface and it'll polish up. 7K miles. With a spare engine, spare (straight) fenders, spare front and rear wheels, spare speedo, spare headers and clamps, and a bunch of other stuff.

Best part about this? I showed up in my '64 Valiant, and so we shot the shit a little when we were talking about the bike. He decided I was worthy enough to show his goodies -- two 1948 Vincents (black shadows, I believe!) in immaculate shape, a 1903 Dickenson Morette -- look it up, he thinks it's the only one in the USA, and a 1966 Velocette undergoing restoration. Holy shit. He asked me if I liked records, and showed me an under-the-dash 45 player. Pretty cool dude, when I go back to pick up the bike I am going to ask him if he needs an heir.

1984 BMW R80ST. One of less than 1000 imported to the US out of the only ~5500 built. Purchased from the original owner. Around 60K on the clock, he took a year off years ago and rode it across the US, to Alaska, up and down the coasts, etc. Had a log book with everything ever done to the bike, oil changes, etc. Starts right up and runs perfect.
