I think you're right. The bars should look really good black.

Re: CB360: Spartan UPDATED: We have a roller

Just a thought on those ears...

How are they made? If they're fiberglass, you could sand the top and bottom of them down until you have enough space for the clipons. Just put painters tape around where the ears wrap around the fork legs, and when you sand the painters tape will prevent the fiberglass from splintering. That would give you a win/win, because you would get the headlight down a little lower and you would lose the handlebar clamps, giving the whole bike a more aggressive stance. If you wanted, you could probably get a second set of ears from benji (seems like they wouldnt be more than 20 dollars) and file em down before you paint them.

Unfortunately the smallest clip-on's I've found have been too large to fit even if I sanded all of the extra tubing off the bracket.

Re: CB360: Spartan UPDATED: We have a roller

Give Roc City a call, they might be able to fab you some ultra thin clipons.

Re: CB360: Spartan UPDATED: We have a roller

have you seen what mysta2 did with his clubmans? i don't know if it's the safest solution but as far as i know he hasn't had any problems...

Re: CB360: Spartan UPDATED: We have a roller

Yeah 66, you know that might just be the best option there (mysta2 style). That type of setup would give you everything you want, and with the bars black, it would look really trick!

Re: CB360: Spartan UPDATED: We have a roller

Ha.. if you go much lower with the headlight you won't be able to see the speedo... (not that you need to)

Yeah! I gave that a shot when I had the adjustable bars on and it wouldn't clear. Maybe it's the extra diameter from my headlight bracket tubes?

Re: CB360: Spartan UPDATED: We have a roller

i like the clubmans on top like that... but i like that bit of traditional look on a cafe... when they are black they will blend in great... lately i have doing alot of my builds bars in color (my cafe and the gold wing for example) may look into color matchin the powder on the bars with the paint... that is personally waht i would do... you see how they really blend in on these builds

Re: CB360: Spartan UPDATED: We have a roller

Thanks for the ideas, Joe. If I can't find an elegant solution to keep the brackets and go clip-ons I'm going to rock the clubmans in the same satin black the rest of the powder is in. It's not the clubmans that bother me as much as how high the risers look when you don't have any gauges up there.

Re: CB360: Spartan UPDATED: We have a roller

well then... if you are going to coat them any way... personally... i would take the clubmans. remove your risers. cut off the clamp part of the riser, notch the riser pegs that are left, and weld the clubmans right to that, would be smooth all the way across and a very unique look, and once coated they will be perfect, that will allow you to get the bars tight to the trees, have a uniqe look... but you would not be able to adjust them so be sure you mark out just where you want them first... that is what i would do on them... hell may do that on my CB500 now that i think about it!

Interesting idea! I don't have the welding skills but a buddy of mine may be up to the challenge. So basically just cut some off the bottom part of the clamp and weld it onto the bar?

USPS just dropped off my brake/turn signals as well as my carb kit and new brake pads.

i use a pipe notcher that i got from harbor freight... works great man, we build bars with it all the time!
wold be easy to cut and notch the risers... then have him weld them up!

I'm really digging this idea. So I wouldn't need the top piece that bolts in either. I've got to go out to dinner so I can't work on it tonight. I may have some more questions tomorrow plus some pics.

In other news, the battery I've been waiting for since NOVEMBER 30TH has arrived. USPS sucks. They lost the first one but the seller is a good guy and sent me another one. Taking bets to see if it'll run the 360 without the electric start.

Our builds are quite similar! I like what you have done with the tank, I am taking a more "expansive" route. But I am also using a battery similar to this! I bought a Dewalt 28 volt battery pack off eBay for $50 and tore the 8 little A123 batteries out of it. I will have to solder them up and shrink wrap them, but I think will be just the same and cost a good deal less, and I will have a spare if I need it. Pulling the electric start off of mine too :) awesome work by the way! I kept looking back to your pictures for insight on how to mount my tank. Can't wait to see yours done!
