Re: Garage Guy Chris's First Cafe 71' CB 450 (massive update, 2 pages worth!) I think you should cut off the top part of your rear-sets. They're off a CBR right? i say cut your rear-sets down to just the mounting triangle then either polish them or paint them black. Bike looks amazing though!!!

1 or 3. 1 fits the tank curves pretty well. 3 has a good simple classic look that i enjoy as well.

I was able to pick up some cbr f3 rear sets off ebay for $50 to put on my 82 gs650. i went for sport bike rear sets rather then universal ones just because they have the mounted rear brake master cylinder. Just have to weld on some mounting brackets and i'll be set.

Sorry i just have to put in my two cents. I don't think a square tail section goes with this bike at all, everything from the engine to the tank is nice and rounded. Love that paint though!!! epic!! And i love the shape of the tank, i have the same one on my 1967 Benelli Cobra 125.

Re: Noob building a 78 CB550 Cafe - Pearl My suggestion would be to soak your exhaust nuts in penetrating oil (WD-40) before you try to break them loose. when they are that rusted you run the risk of break the stud and dealing with more problems.

I wouldn't think you need to take any of the side covers off, maybe just the oil filter housing. If it were me i would drain the oil, take the filter housing off, then like Big Rich said just lay the bike on it's side and work the frame off the engine.
