Yes, it's possible to do this, but as previously mentioned, it's better to just get a compatible R/R. If you really do want to go through the trouble of separating the battery from the rest of the system, let me know and I can provide guidance.

The crank trigger may not be a good enough signal to use. I'd try orange or gray wire from the coils (if you haven't already).

How do you have the pickup wired? Is it wrapped around a plug wire or spliced into an ignition coil wire (gray or orange), itself?

Yeah.... polished is nice, but I don't put too much efforts into it. If it looks good from 10 feet away, that's about my speed for polished aluminum. I build bikes to ride, not to show.

The fab work is basically done. The seat is hinged on the back and opens up to reveal the battery, electronics tray, and access to the oil tank. Plenty of room under the gas tank for wiring and ignition coils. Flush mount (with spring loaded pop up) gas cap finishes the tank.

Gonna need a review on the Pan America once you get some serious miles on it.

The hitch has been installed and wired to the bike. Just need to wire up the mating connector on the trailer, now.

Engine paint is finished. After going back and forth on the idea, I think I'm going to run the oil pump and alternator covers as is.

I've got a friend doing the fab work for me. I'll see if I can find out where he got it from.

The oil tank came out great. We went with a custom made option that doubles as a rear fender.

Started painting the cases.
