Joe, Those bars are perfect for this project. I kept looking on line trying to decide which way to go and I looked over at the back of garage and those bars were on a GS450 I had picked up that a PO had butchered. they work perfectly. You really got to have rear sets to ride clubmans or clip-ons comfortably.

Quick update, and a product plug. I bought the Por-15 liner kit to line my tank it comes with a quart of Marine clean degreaser I can't say enough about how great that stuff is, an overnight soak in that solutuion and the tank is spotless. all the gum and varnish that was visible down in the bottom of the tank is completely gone. The tank came so clean that I haven't gone any further with the lining. Chris, I'm taking your advice and trying to find someone to tig the tank. I may still have to go the liner route though if I can't find someone to do it on the cheap side. we'll see.
I haven't tried the purple stuff but Marine Clean kicks Simple Green's ass all day long.

dont use the por-15 liner.....IT SUCKS. i used it on my original 750 tank and the shit peeled off on me like nothing.

Its going to be April before I dig back into her. I don't want to get her going and not be able to shake her down. Thanks for the props on the decals. I wanted something clean and concise and I think it works.

Really!!?? I have heard nothing but props for it. Did you do the whole kit thing or just buy the liner? They expressly reccomend their 2 stage cleaning process prior to lining. Did you use that and still have problems? I am going to avoid lining this tank now anyway.

yeah i used the entire cleaning kit and before i lined it i did electrolysis to clean it.

Aw man, that sucks because is sounds like your tank wasn't clean enough. As far as I can tell the POR-15 kinda sets the standard at this point for tank liners. Personally it's worked great for me, hate to hear of a brother having problems that he may not deserve (HA!!)...

the electrolysis was done before the marine clean and metal prep and the tank sat dry for probably 2 months before i looked at it. i blew the inside of it with some compressed air because there was no gas cap on it and i wanted to get the dust out and the liner flaked off like crazy.

i know....i got pissed and smashed the thing with a 20lb sledge hammer then bought a carpy dunstall tank.

Okay, I've been doing a crap load of research on this whole lining thing. I also put an ad in craigslist looking for a tig welder and one guy got back to me with this link. He says he's been using this stuff for a long time and it works great. especially after other failed liners. but also look around this site they have all kinds of buffing kits, chrome plating kits etc etc. really cool site.
