Hi Johnu, I just occurred to me that you and Brad have done the same with your mounts. Most commonly the shock is made ride height adjustable and not the chassis mount. Both of these have the mounts on the upper end and part of the frame. It's usually it adjustable on the lower end and part of the shock itself. Again just making shop talk, I put my ride ht. adj. at the bottom and fixed the upper. Typical of linkage type mono-shocks it's a 2/1 ratio so that 1" of adjustment yields 2" at the axle that should be plenty to tune most chassis? I don't know either of the direct mono ratio. Fun stuff to ponder.

johnu s kick ass build is alot of the reason i wanted to mono shock this bike

Re: 1974 t500 cafe build

Agreed His bike is 100% amazing. Your's is also shaping up, a cool build keep up the good work. I can feel bit of tension here for some reason I don't want to open a box with a surprise in it. I guess I missed judged the level of idea exchange on this site. No offense meant. I also guess "I'm done yet"?
O&O

Re: 1974 t500 cafe build

Really looking good. I think you are making better progress than I am! What is that shock off of? I am using the el cheapo ($25 ebay) stock Ninja 650 shock which is all I could afford at this time.

Re: 1974 t500 cafe build

The shock is off a buell something or another it was a wapping 45 bucks shipped in the selling section on this very site

Re: 1974 t500 cafe build

The only thing better than cheap is free. Was the shock part of a linkage set up or linkless as you are using it now?

Re: 1974 t500 cafe build

The bike it came off of is linkless and with in twenty pounds on a t500 in full trim

Re: 1974 t500 cafe build

It was a perfect mistake i just bought the thing then i read up on it. im kinda a measure once cut twice guy.

Re: 1974 t500 cafe build

Damn Brad. I didn't know you built bikes. I thought you just sat around and talked shit all day.

;D

Joking aside, this is just plain cool. You've got some really good ideas going...I might have to steal a few. Or all.

Re: 1974 t500 cafe build

This is the first mono shock conversion I have seen on a T500....it looks awesome! You must have spent a lot of time figuring and fabbing this up. I'd love to try this on the t500 project Ihave waiting in the wings...will be watching close.

Re: 1974 t500 cafe build

Thanks guys means a lot
The plan was to put the electronic in the tank extension and oil in the tail section but now im gonna have to build a split seat hump half oil tank, half stupit wires and gizmos holder. Time will tell it may all change 7 more times
