1976 Suzuki GT750 Smoker

New Triple clamp and bars

So last week a friend of mine working on his 1982 GS750 Cafe said he was gonna cut off his bar mounts from his upper triple and add his clip ons. I said, "hey I can use those". Gave me the idea to weld up a bolt on aluminum plate so I could run some Superbike bars. They bolt right on in 15 minute and still allow me the option to bolt the clip ons back on when I want. So I guess the Buffalo may be classified now as a Bratfe.

I luv Waterbuffalos and I luv this bike, nice work, man!

The forcep clamp on slide spring is a great idea, thank, I am going to use it.

Where did you get your air filters? I have 34mm Mikunis on my GT500 and I need some proper filters.

Brian

Thanks Brian.

They are Uni Filters that came from an eBay. There are a number of sellers there. They work well on my 34 Keihins.

I could'nt find any Uni's on my previous search, I will try again.

Try searching "dirt bike pod filter" and they come right up. These old two-strokes aren't proper street bikes man! They are just dirt bikes pretending to be so. Have fun! -Sean

I like the reactions I get with my smokers. Most don't know anything about them, surprised that they are two strokes and there is always one or two that had one one. With their skinny powerbands and cacophony of unexplainable noises, they aren't for everyone but that's only music you hear when they are on the pipe at full throttle, haha. There is always someone who has to make the ring ding ding impersonation, all in good fun :)

My sentiments exactly! The sound is worth a thousand words & smiles. I do have to short shift the Buffalo thru the neighborhood though. ;D

Thanks, I did the ebay search you recommended, it works.

Haha, this is going to help me also as I am just about to order 34mm Mikuni's for my GT500. I had planed to run without air filters but I might try the Uni's. Thanks guys!!

The two strokes run better with longer intake tracks. The more knowledgeable here might be able to explain why.

Damn, I want a Waterbuffalo even more now.

Man Brian, I love GT500's do you have a thread on your bike?

So, I picked up my new/used Vintage 1976 plate for the state of IN "date of manufacture program". Pretty Cool, now the Buffalo is true Bicentennial status!

On my Sunday morning ride today I found some "building" wall art in a historic Indiana down town.

Hey guys My Buffalo project got picked up for a Feature article over at Vintage Motorcycles Online with a full write up and photos. Do the guys at VMOL a favor and like the article on Face Book at bottom of article page if you read it. Only with the help of guys on DTT was I able to have the inspiration to finish this smoker. Thanks!

This is my favorite bike that I've come across on this site. Just looks like a bad ass mofo. I was $1500 away from walking out the door with a GT750, wish I would of waited.

Thanks TGreg104,

The GT 750 is a great bike, unique fast and reliable. If taken care of with simple maintenance & occasional riding they will last a long, long time. The only problem is if they sit a long time the crank seals dry out and need a rebuild. Mine required a rebuild at 11,000 miles as it was stored for numerous years by the PO. For a two-stroke they truly have a durable motor that can cover tens of thousands of miles. My first 1972 GT750 had over 70,000 miles on it when I sold it and the motor had never been opened.
