what the hell? you made it old man red wine? or is that a trick of the lighting?

If old man red wine is what you see, I guess that's what it is. My intention was always to paint it similarly to the stock KZ color that was already on the tank. Having a gold metallic orange undercoat seemed like an odd way to get there, but that's what it took. This is three and a half layers- a gold metallic layer, the orange metal flake layer, a silver metallic smoke layer and now the torreador top coat.

Ha, Ok explaining it then, when it gets back out in the sun and you have it polished it will be bling then. I can dig that. In this pic it looks all dull and dreary but knowing the layers now it should be really nice.

I see the sparkle layers now. I assume that is pre-clear or pre-polish? Once cleared/Polished it will deepen the shine and pull out more depth?
Edit - Ok on my phone it looks way different than on my laptop. I commented from the laptop pic as it looked dull and ruff on the light spots but my phone screen it looks like its polished??? Weird.

it's so weird, when I look at the sidecover on my laptop screen it looks really dull in the red circles like it needs a clear and or polish. Zoomed in on my phone they look like shiney polished areas??? not sure which is real and which is screen issues LOL.

Pretty much done. This is sports mode. Without the rack. I machined some tie down cleats and fabbed an arm to mount the license plate, which I made to hold something small, like a small tool roll or bag.

Made heat shields for the ankle/calf area. It’s always been my intention to powder coat or paint these pipes, so the wrap will eventually go, even though it’s keeping the heat away just fine.

THanks, the brakes definitely do their job. As far as gravel roads, it fairs really well. Not sure it's hugely improved, but fortunately these tires performed better on the street than I expected. So, there's that. LOL I think these BMWs do alright on pretty wide terrain, so tires can be the big limiter.

With the low exhaust, the gap between the rear wheel and fender seems to make the proportions on the bike better. That's cool

I liked the high exhaust. I think the high exhaust gave the bike a late 60s to early 70s ISDT style. Back to the time when street motorcycles were modified to compete on dirt with the ISDT being the premier global event.
