I have one cylinder with three damn near perfect bores and one bad bore. I have another with two damn near perfect bores and two bad bores. Let’s play the shell game...

Ready for a hone and a little love on the surface plate.

cool. do they stay round in the new block?
They measure up the same. I'm also running the matching pistons, so each piston goes with it's original sleeve.

The top of the cylinder wasn’t too bad, so just about 20 min on the surface plate. 30 passes with a 240 grit flex hone @ 45°.

You did all this work in your garage?

Can you show the surface plate?

What do you mean @45?

Yep, my garage. Well, my kiln is in my laundry room. 45° is the angle you want your hone marks. I do it on my drill press, so I have a nice rhythm count, like marching in boot camp, to get my strokes on the handle right.

Here is my surface plate:

That’s gotta be easier to muscle than a 750 lump...
Hahahaha. Um.... fuck muscling a 750 lump. Did I tell you about that time my dumb ass thought it would be a good idea to build a 750 engine in my dining room? Yeah. Luckily, my skateboard got it back into the garage.

I have a couple merge collectors and a few mandrel bends on order, but in the meantime I figured out how I want to tuck the exhaust into this frame. The collectors should fit in right at the front of the engine where the frame bends and transitions to the bottom of the cradle. These headers are in such good shape, I’m happy to use them.
