1987 Honda XL 600 R Cafe Racer build - "Honda Cafe Cross"

The seat fits perfect to the frame and tank :) The bike is almost pulled apart again. Have to clean up some welds on the frame, get it blasted and them painted... Hopefully I will start assembling again in the end of January :-D

Got some new stuff in the mail today, Biltwell grips... Nice!

Those look pretty bad a$$! I can imagine they'd look pretty sick with some ice spike in the winter too.

Thanks!

I have actually been considering spiking them next winter, and run it on a ice-track... but I have to get it finished to drive this spring first ;-)

Here is what it looks like today, the last mockup :)

Next step now is to clean up some welds on the frame, then send it to get sandblasted and powdercoated black.

Hopefully I can start putting it back together at the end of this month... That should give me enough time to get a final approval from the Norwegian DMV, ride it some and then bring it to a Custombike Show in Sweden June 7th :-D

Have a great weekend!

Nice...very nice!!!!!!!

Shouldn't the footpegs be a little further back though? Have you tried sitting on it?

M.

Thanks!

Cuba: I have tried sitting on it, and it seems ok. But for a long ride I think the placement might be a bit uncomfertable ;-)

I am not trying to hate at all but seems like to me that rear suspension is really weak the way its mounted. Usually that type of swing arm is mounted with center piece from frame in between the swing arm which the swing arm rod goes through. All you have is a left and right plate connected to the frame with no support in the middle. Am I the only one that feels this way about this setup?

This swingarm originally doesn't have a bolt going thru from left to right, it is mounted with two bolts :) Attached the parts picture to show you ;-)
