Making some progress, the XS looks pretty neat.
Will be interesting to hear how the choice of tyres, seat and smaller tank works out for you on the road.

Cb750 electronics box. This was allot of work. Left the reg rec out in hopes that it would stay cooler

Carbs on. These things are a breeze to tune and work great with pods. Try it at home

Ken over at cycle exchange did me a solid and whipped up this super-sidewinder exhaust for me. Previously only available for sohc applications we talked it out and because of a misunderstanding on their website he ended up making me this. I like it allot and now it's available for all

Well this pic is is from mid July. Here it is. Wouldn't start no spark but everything else worked.

After some tracing it ended up being cdi box or spark box or whatever they are called. I just goofed and wired them
Wrong. Switched it up and it fired quickly.

Still a ways off I'm trying to get it sorted now. Had lots of clutch problems but I think I figured those out recently.

Very dumb mistake causing those.

And I have some carb and timing issues to sort I believe.

Badass! The pipes are sick.

Okay... not trying to be negative... but man you are brave. Stock foot peg location + clip-on bars on a LONG trip. Ooooouch. I rode my KZ400 with the stock foot peg location and clip-on bars for 1 summer before I quickly switched to riser bars. I couldn't ride for more than 10 minutes without my back hurting, and I'm a short guy! It honestly makes my back hurt just looking at it.

Add the tires and thin seat on top of that, and it just hurts even more.

It sure does look nice... But if I were building a bike for a long haul, that would be the least of my concerns.

Haha thanks treitz. I don't think you are being negative. Just giving advice like we've asked all along.

My first bike was was that adventurer with mid controls and clip ons. I guess I'm just use to them.

And the seat is surprisingly comfy on this.

But I'll keep y'all posted on how it goes

Definitely look forward to the post-trip feedback! Should be a good time (pain or no pain).

Thanks guys. The kudos are appreciated. We took a hit on the cb160 build last night. It's together and running but we are pretty sure the stator isn't working. So it's back up on the lift. We are looking at options for replacement now.

Searching this forum mostly ha

But the good vibes are awesome. Thank yall

Speaking of the 160... Here is Jarod shaping the fin on the patch piece we made

And a pic of the scrambler pipes

And a pic of the DCC brat seat with the narrowed hoop and all that good stuff

Thanks guys! Luugo I hope you got my pm not really good at this forum yet

Just thought I'd share last nights garage story, the 160 has been a kicker only up to this point but that lost its charm pretty quickly so last night we wired up a solenoid and swapped the configuration button out to be the start button.

After we were done nothing was right. The m unit was showing several shorts. Notably the turn signal spots( we have no turn signals) and after you turned it off it would beep the horn twice.

The headlight and tail light were staying on but very dimly, and we were getting like 1 volt off the frame and the "out" rail of the m unit

We checked and double checked everything. Even pulled off all the grounds and all the connections to the m unit.

Hours of trouble shooting.

We were about to call it a night when Jarod noticed a drip of solder had fallen on the headlight switch and bridged the terminals.

And that was it. All the testing all the searching. Just a stupid bit of carelessness cost us a day we should of spent tuning. And days are at a premium right now

Anywho here's a pic of the cb750 from the other side. Gots my gold chain blinging, ...you know keeping my street cred strong

Really great looking bike. All of them really. Well done.

P.S. I hate when you lose hours due to something like that. So frustrating.

Just spend the morning going through the whole thread. Wow.
My hat goes off to you guys!
Ill be looking for the updates

Godspeed.

Hey man.. I did get your PM.. thanks again, a response is in the works.

The 750 is looking great man, I love the profile on that bike. Nice strong lines, great proportions, one of the only DOHC 750 builds that have a great, well-rounded look to it. Nicely done man. As for the "wasted" night.. I lol'd when I read it, but only because I have been there for sure man.. Last summer I built a 1920 Harley-Davidson Boardtrack racer replica and used an old '50s-'60s era Schwinn Beach-Cruiser frame as a base.. I probably wasted a weeks worth of shop time tracking down problems that ended up being the dumbest little thing imaginable once I had found it.. So I made a new personal trouble shooting creedo: Ignore all your wrenching and building know-how, look at the dumbest shit first, stuff like "a rebuilt, brand new carb that was put together and installed without remembering to screw in your main or pilot jets, or put a float in the bowl" lol... or a little piece of solder haha. Wouldnt mind stopping in to wrench with you fellas for a weekend, seems like you guys have a cool setup.

Btw, hows that little Yamaha coming? I really enjoy smaller displacement twins.. just fun little machines man
