So just to refresh my memory, your new carb came with a 105 jet? Mine was shipped with a 110. At least that's what the seller said.

the new one has the marking scraped off. It measures the same as the 105 that came out of the original carb.

I didnt compare pilot jets. Doubt I have a bit small enough for that.

The new needle is also narrower (richer) at the tip than the old. I currently have the new one installed.

Re: Rachels 72, CL100

Ok, maybe they told me wrong and shipped me a 105 MAIN. I dropped the needle clip, and once warmed up it seems a lot better. I didn't have time to take it on the road yet. Still popped a bunch when cold.

Re: Rachels 72, CL100

the manual states the CB-CL100 used 110 jet and the 125s had 105 installed.

the reason Im considering experimenting w the 107...because my 110s are in the 360.

Re: Rachels 72, CL100

Just found and read through this thread. Awesome scrambler, Trek! Your writeups will probably be really useful for when I start tearing into the front end and wheels on my 125. For some reason I really dig the black heat-shield, too.

I think this was meant for your thread.

You should have some laying about (unless you tossed them?)
It isn't worth messing with the needles until you have main jet sorted. Better to go too big and come down than be too small and 'hurt' something

Re: Rachels 72, CL100

thanks max and brodie.

yep the seller is probably scraping off the 105 labels and just telling guys they are the stock 110s they are looking for in these carbs. I compared both an old stock 105 keihin and the new using my 1.04 drill...barely slipping in both equally the same. So Im absolutely sure the new are 105s intended for CB125s.

Lucky for me they are the same jet as used in the 360 carbs. So I got some to mess with.

Re: Rachels 72, CL100

Forgive me because I am not experienced with this stuff. so a 105 jet is that way because it is 1.05 millimeters?

Re: Rachels 72, CL100

Also found a "thing" to think about.

Honda manual says 110 for the CL-CB100

Honda shop site says 105 for my 72 CL100, hmmm

Re: Rachels 72, CL100

The 110 in the manual was printed in 1971. Which kinda makes sense Like PJ said. They may have started the big De-tune. Due to the energy crisis in the early 70s. So, the 110 was changed out to the 105. Sacrificing performance for a little mpg.

Same reason Fords 428 Cobra jet, Mach 1, Mustang evolved into the 4 cylinder, Mustang 2. Ugh.

OR, maybe through R&D they simply found it performed better w the 105....IDK.

Re: Rachels 72, CL100

took a chance on an ebay windshield. And its really nice and sturdy. The shields Ive been finding were $80-100 bucks. This one was $51 w free shipping. I couldnt be more delighted. Fits perfectly and not too big at all.
PS. I am still able to just hit 60mph w the windshield installed. Tucked in.

Hard to see in the pic because its very clear.

Also got a $5+free shipping, kill switch...plan to wire that in this morning.

AND best of all.

After a bunch of patience and many searches got a decent front "FULL SIZE" CB125 fender for under $50 bucks. 8)
It will be part of the winter time work. Needs blasted and painted to match.

Re: Rachels 72, CL100

Good luck with that kill switch. My bike came with a cheapy switch like that. Kill is on, on is kill. I tried switching the wires around and it stayed the same . Weird little thing, but it does it's job, even if backwards.

Let me know if you decide to sell that original front fender in the winter. I might be interested.

Your top o' that list dude. Actually top, mid & bottom...you are the list.

Re: Rachels 72, CL100

Rach passed the written test and got her learners permit. :D

Re: Rachels 72, CL100

Nice, look out. She's not going to let you ride the 100 once she gets her license.

Re: Rachels 72, CL100

That is a nice looking bike, good colour choice.
I would pretty much ignore stock spec's, the year of manufacture will have more effect due to EPA regulations.
Earlier jetting almost always works 'better' (pre-EPA stuff)

Thanks PJ, Rach had the final say on the color choice.

I must say, I am shocked what a big effect needle height adjustment has on this little machine.

I guess it makes perfect sense though, on a single cylinder its either right (running) or not. Unlike a 2 or more cylinder. if one carb is off a bit...the others will help keep it running to get by.

I went for a test run last night. and found the thing did poorly w needle raised one click. So, I put her back to center position, back to original setting. Now waiting for sun rise to ensure it still runs as good as it was originally.

Then just for fun. May swap in ALL the guts from the original stock carb and see what happens.

Is it weird that I like to see just how crappy I can make a bike run? ;)

Re: Rachels 72, CL100

I wired the new cheapy kill switch in directly with coil. That way when I hit the kill switch the lights remain on. Until I turn off w the light switch or key switch.

So the kill switch alone will stop the bike from running without killing the entire system.

11494-300815045557-15161013.jpeg

I also "fixed" the switch. By wiping off the confusing characters off the rocker w acetone. Then flipped the switch over in the housing. In this pic its in the "kill" position. This configuration seems right for me, anyways.

11494-300815045557-15211754.jpeg

I also filled the housing w Blue silicone. The solder connections were more or less, somewhat exposed to the weather, should also help to keep the joints from breaking loose due to vibration.
