currently probie in Ton Up Chicago, see you at Mods vs. Rockers.

Gary, I think you will find a good home with Ton Up Chicago

With regards to Half Fast, from an out side perspective, any casual motorcycle club that feel the need to have a "sargent at arms" speaks volumes about the type of scene it is trying to emaulate. - Just sayin'

huh, i have no idea what that means but i ride wiht 1/2 fast whenever i can make it to an event and it is a blast! my wife has a great time with the group as does everyone of my buddies or customers from the shop i have ever brought with, great group, super nice guys and gals that plan some beautiful rides though the city. I have seen them go above and beyond to help people out and i will proudly ride with them any time.
if how they put together their offices is what makes them flow so smooth i think they should keep it! For them to make even my wife feel at home cruising with them, i am all for it!

hell my Fraternity had a sgt of arms, and a sentinal, and we where a good group!

Joe, don't take the comment the wrong way, I am in no way against Half Fast, it is just an outside perspective when a casual motorcycle club has club positions like that, that mirror those of less desireable motorcycle clubs, it seems to me in a way in poor taste. I cannot speak to their events etc.

I would just be a bit happier with that whole group(HF) if they would take the whole bash the TUC thing and put it to rest. I like the ton-up club and their events and I don't need to read Teal's rants every other day about how he thinks they suck etc.
Different Clubs for different people etc.

i have yet to go to a ton up event, but plan on trying to make a few next year with some of the vintage builds i have planned out for this winter, maybe we will run into eachother

Considering you live 25 minutes down the road I am sure we will run into each other at some point. ;)

Gary,
Let me set the record straight on the whole Half Fast/Ton-Up Chicag thing...
The three guys that started Half Fast were all once members of Ton-Up (me being one of them). We did the same "probie" period that you are currently doing, attendend meetings, put up flyers and posters for events, wore our club shirts out and about to "show our face", etc. Once we were "grated membership" and got deeper into the club we didnt like how the club was being run so we decided to split, and take 6 other members/probies with us once they found out how the club was really being ran. We actually left on good terms (or atleast tried too) but Fletcher and some of the older TonUp guys made fun of us for leaving, said things like "what are they gonna do without us", and other BS that wasnt needed. So with that we decided to form Half Fast and do everything that TonUp doesnt. Like have open books of club funds/spending and email this info once a month to ALL members so they know where their dues/club profits are, hold monthly club meetings where EVERYTHING the club does as a whole gets input from each club member, Have the club be open to good people no matter what kinda bike they ride, host a forum that is open to anyone that wants to be a part of it (i believe you used to use our form before you got hooked up with TonUp right ?) and help out when and where we can (weather they be a club member or not), etc..

I know you are currently a probie for Larry and his club, but if you look back at Half Fast Chicago's past, check the forum to see how we do in fact help people we dont even know, check out our past event/ride pics, etc you will see that Half Fast is allot less "shady" then the club you are currently prospecting for. But as you said, different clubs for different people...

Ton up Chicago is not the only Ton Up chapter. It is an international Club with chapters in North America as well as Europe. Don't generalize by your experience with Chicago. It's downright rude.

To be fair, whenever he said "Ton Up" in his post I think he was referring specifically to Ton Up Chicago. I'm not trying to get in the middle of anything, I don't know anyone from either side, I'm just saying when I read it I read it as he was just talking about Ton Up Chicago.

To really be fair I think maybe half fast should just stop posting negative comments about Ton Up Chicago, there are not even that many people into Cafe Bikes and the last thing a smaller community like ours needs is a bunch of in-fighting, everyone can have an opinion and I respect half fast's right to have one and Joe's right to have one, but it does not do any good to post it at every opportunity.

Different Clubs for different people and all.

I'm totally cool with someone having an opinion and they can even say fuck (insert club here) becasue I don't like them and that is fine. The line that got me was and I quote "you will see that Half Fast is allot less "shady" then the club you are currently prospecting for". That is a very general Ton Up club statment. Now that is out of context considering he was refering to TU-Chi. It's just a sore spot and some people will read into it differently. I'll go back in my hole to lurk.

For the record ALL of my comments/posts/etc are direclty reffering to TON UP CHICAGO, and no other chapter of TonUp what so ever.
And on that, I am done...

Even though I said in the original post that I was not trying to take sides in any way shape or form, I want to say it again,-- I am not taking sides! I was just saying how I read the post because I thought the way I read it might help defuse things or keep them from escalating.

I went down to Acetoberfest tonight and plan to go again before work in the early afternoon.. these guys helped host a great event and while I don't think I talked with any members, they seemed very open and welcoming.

Half fast has a cool open forum that I post on occasionally and the guys seem to be very helpful and all around good people.

I think, like myself, most bystanders have a positive view of both clubs, so lets try to keep it that way and keep the bickering off the boards! Not pointing fingers at either side, but lets just call this thread or this board ( whatever) neutral territory and leave it at that.

Yo,

Just say'n whats up.

Names Ken. My ride is in pieces. No cash right now. Building a 77 T140V OIF bobber. Total rip down and back up. 0.60 over. Black Diamond valves. New crank, rods, cams etc... Powder coated everything including the motor.

I have a couple of old Japanese bikes I want to get rid of or swap for British parts. 76 Suzuki GT500 and 76 Honda CB750. The Honda has been sitting since about 86 and is beat up but all together. The Suzuki has been sitting since about 82 and has some impound stickers on it and pretty roughed up.

If anyone is interested in purchasing or swapping please get back to me: triumph77guy@yahoo.com
