i'm still in awe, but the rear brake torque arm is raising an eyebrow. does it work alright? putting rearsets on mine, and that seems a really easy way to cover that problem

Bro, You'll have to forgive me. I'm a little slow. I get it now. I see what you are saying. The rear brake pedal is below the frame and could present a problem.
I plan to shorten its throw as much as possible with the linkage. It it presents a problem I'll have to cut it and/or bend it so it doesn't swing too low. Time will tell.

I have other work i have to do tomorrow so progress on the bike will slow. However, I hope to have it on the road by Monday or Tuesday.

Re: 360 dragger/bobber brat what ever

I think it will work ok, but you will need some really beefy linkage. I'd try 3/8" stainless rod with 1/4" cro-mo rod ends personally.

Re: 360 dragger/bobber brat what ever

nice job Troy nice job! if you do jockey shift this winter, and can hold off a bit, when i am making mine for my CB350 i can just make 2 of everything and send it out to you... i think i am either going to go with a reverse lever clutch lever and put it on the shifter, or i am going wiht a foot clutch, we will see. ha ha ha our bikes are going to look like distant cuzins!

Re: 360 dragger/bobber brat what ever

Hey
This is my first post here, but I've been a lurker for a while. I love your bike, and I can't wait to see the finished product.
I have a question for you that I didn't see an answer to in this thread. What are they and where did you get the air pods for your bike? I really like them and I'm starting a big project and I'd like to include some on mine.
Thanks

Thanks for the concern however i kinda question it. Could be a little confusion on my part. If I'm thinking right the stresses on the hub stop arm are all linear and not lateral. Am I thinking right? If there are any lateral stresses at all I really need to switch to some round tubing. Would be much stronger for that application. However, as I understand it, in this application the stresses are always pulling (linear) and not pushing (both linear and lateral??). Is my thinking right? Let me know. Again I appreciate your concern.

JRK that would be awesome! I'll definitely take you up on it. I was thinking clutch on the handle or foot clutch as well. We are definitely on the same page brother! That rocks.

Atomic, The velocity stacks are ebay finds. If you do a search on ebay with your application you should be able to find what your looking for.

Thanks for the props guys!
Just so you guys know, I'll be gone for a couple days :'(

Re: 360 dragger/bobber brat what ever

Chris,
I just reread. Sorry, I thought you were still on the hub arm. . If the rod were pushing instead of pulling I'd have to agree. The brake linkage has No room what so ever on the pedal end for rod ends. So it has to be a yoke (Besides I think that a yoke is stronger than rod ends any way.) Like I said, It's very tight in there and I'm not certain that a yoke to fit 3/8" rod would fit in there anyway. To be honest I think 1/4" solid rod will be fine as long as it's not allthread. However you see guys using allthread for brake linkage. I personally think its too flimsy and a bad idea. That's just my opinion though, but obviously I'm not an engineer.
But I will be staying at a Holiday Inn express this weekend ;D

Re: 360 dragger/bobber brat what ever

Hahaha.Well, just checked in. Its a Hampton not Holiday in. Don't want my wifey to catch me on here but Gotta get my do the ton on;D
I thought about chris' post all the way here. Maybe he was thinking i was saying that I may need to bend/cut the brake linkage. If so I should have been more clear in that I meant that if needed i could bend/cut the brake pedal it self. Any how, sorry for the misunderstanding. I guess I need to be more clear. My wife claims that I'm high functioning considering my low IQ. Hahaha just kidding.
later guys,

Re: 360 dragger/bobber brat what ever

Bit of an update.
FU Fed Ex. I'm still waiting on the clear to arrive. Fed Ex always does this to me. Tracking info says that it was put on the truck for home delivery on the 10th. Still not here but that's no surprise. Don't know why but the drivers keep our packages on the truck until they feel like delivering here. Really sucks. Had I any clue that the company I ordered from used Fed Ex I would have requested someone walk it here instead! Just plain sucks.

Well in the mean time got all the wiring done. Brake linkage done. It turned out real nice, beefy too. The throw on the rear brake pedal is min. so it should be fine. Got the fender done and it turned out sick. I still need to sand it down but I love it. I think it looks better in person than the photos show. Anyway, I ended up re-doing the tank :'( moving the bike out of the garage I wasn't paying attention and put a big scrape on it. As some of you know the garage is tight right now, but I should have been paying attention. Just glad it was me and not someone else. Shouldn't had the tank on there anyhow. But it worked out and the tank turned out nice as well. Now I'm just waiting on the F'n clear. If it's not here by the end of the day I may hit it with wheel clear coat and call it done.
I've decided against doing the headlight bucket with lace. I figure it would be near impossible to get the lace on and have it look good. It really needs a flat surface.

Re: 360 dragger/bobber brat what ever

Wow, the lace thong looks great! ;D That will be much better than the chrome I think.

Cheers,

Maritime

Re: 360 dragger/bobber brat what ever

Wow, that looks great! I had my doubts, but you really pulled it off. The lace kind of gives it a wild west feel somehow.

Re: 360 dragger/bobber brat what ever

Thanks fellas. appreciate the kind words! I hear ya' on the wild west and I agree. I keep thinking old steam engine controls with Lots of worn brass and a mix of hena and patina.
2:15p and no Fed Ex=no clear .

Re: 360 dragger/bobber brat what ever

Damn that thing is going to look delicious. That sucks about the clear. Did you find a note or anything from Fed Ex? Maybe they came by while you were gone so you have to go pick it up at the nearest warehouse?

I was also wondering if you have any extra fender support brackets. I used both of mine for electrolysis (which was a stupid idea because now it's biting me back in the arse). The reason why I ask is because I need it for my friend fender to add some support since I stripped one of the mounting holes. I'm thinking about making my own bracket if it'll end up costing too much.

Anywayyyyy,
Your bike is just amazing. Keep it up!

Re: 360 dragger/bobber brat what ever

Clear arrived late this evening. Tank and fender will get done tomorrow. I will also need to fix a timing issue that started to plague the bike just before I tore it apart. then I'll be ready.

Hey Goodfornothing send me a pm with your address and I'll get a fender brace out to ya. after everthing Kanticoy sent me I'm past due for some pay it forward.
Troy

Re: 360 dragger/bobber brat what ever

Clear applied. Next update will be in show n shine, I hope. Tank and fender will get mounted then I need to deal with my timing issue.
